According to your wedding date you should have been married 7 days ago.

You going to have a hard time having a wedding with 35 guest for $700. You can't rent table or chairs with that budget. What are your plans for seating? What type of food are you thinking about serving?

The most expensive thing that most people don't consider is... dinner ware, dancefloor, washrooms (although with 35 people you could probably just use the one in the house)

If you are having an intimate backyard wedding, those people are likely to be your close family/friends, so I doubt you would get any backlash about making the food/cake yourself.

Amazon has great deals on decorations, and also oriental trading company! You can always rent tables and chairs, or borrow them from your church, if you belong to a church! Ours is letting us use them for free! =) I'm sure it's going to be beautiful! Have fun, and enjoy the planning! =) anything specific that you would like to know about? That's pretty much all I can think to tell you, so far, without knowing a theme, or specifically what you're wondering about! Hope that helped a little bit! =)

Ally is right about your wedding date - but assuming you just put the date in wrong I am just going to say I think it can be done. And don't worry about it being 'tacky' (hate that word) just worry about making sure it's a good time for everyone.

Have you made sure to factor in things like chairs and tables as well as the food. Where you will get them from, hire vs borrowing them from friends

Not sure where you live but here the license and certificate alone are $175, so that will leave $525 for the wedding.

I'm having a backyard wedding on a small budget and am lucky to have found a few hacks. We are also self-catering (FH is a chef). I work at a school, so I able to borrow tables and chairs from my school. I bought linens from linen tablecloth.com and White lights cheap from 1000bulbs.com. I'm crafting more of the decor (flowers included) out of discard books...but even with that, we're spending more than $1000.

I think is doable if everything from your wedding is DIY.

Concentrate on chairs. 37 chairs X $5 per chair= 175 and for tables make them long.... If you rent 4 6ft tables you could seat everyone (plus 1/2 for food and cake), you can do a cake table (I'm doing that and I'm not on a $700 budget).... Do you have things excluded from that budget? Like outfits and rings? Don't worry about "tacky" as long as you're properly hosting your guests, you're okay by me

Oh wow L&G, It's only $30 in my state/county. It's completely do-able. I am using mason jars as centerpieces not because of the fad, but because I have two grandmothers who can fresh veggies from their garden and have a surplus of mason jars. So I got those for free. Just be creative. I shopped for lights after Christmas when they were like 80% off. You can find deals if you just look for them. Food for 35 people is no problem. We have around that amount at every family holiday/birthday/get together. I have never been to a wedding that didn't serve on paper plates and mine will be no different. But if that would be unacceptable to use, I'm sure you could have some cute mismatched vintage-y dinnerware just by getting 5 plates from mom, 7 from grandma, a few from an aunt, etc. Paper balls are good decor and super super cheap. We also got some branches we found in our back yard, spray painted them, put them in buckets (That we are going to decorate) and we are going to put lights in them. Super cheap as well. Think about how you can get food for really cheap or free. We're using green beans from my grandma's garden for free and got pasta for .50/pound from my cousin who works at a pasta plant. Making salad dressing myself instead of bottled. Made cookie dough myself and froze for dessert table. There's a lot you can do to save money, you just have to be willing to put in effort.

I would also add that you should ask around at churches and schools to rent tables and chairs. If you can't do that, you might be better off having it at a park or something that has picnic tables available to use. I know there is a park we have family get-togethers at and a pavilion rental for the day is like $25.

Tables and chairs taken care of outside of that price? Okay look for your dress in consignment stores/thrift stores, tablecloths: is you were able to gather than many chairs, see if there are any tablecloths you can borrow. Flowers: diy from grocery, iPod/iPhone.... You may want to rent some speakers ( if you can swing it) plates/silverware?? Rings can come from own shop...

I think it'll be totally manageable. I originally wanted a backyard wedding until I realized my new backyard has gross flies in the summer.

just get the big overblown reception out of your head and think about how you would throw any nice party in your backyard. it'll be fine. you don't 'need' a dance floor. you don't 'need' a dj. try to get a speaker and set up an ipod. borrow tables and chairs from friends/family/neighbors who are invited. spend the money on the booze :-)

I didnt think about asking to borrow chairs and tables but even if we cant i think 70 for all our table and chairs is too bad.we were going to getthe fake china plastic plates we had seen some at our dollar tree and they had fake ssilverware i just dont think spending a bunch for plates is necessary and we were going to get the paper table clothes instread of linen just not sure how that would look.

My wedding dress is more than that! >.<

I mean I think it can be done very minimally and using things you already own. It is certainly more about you and your FH at that point. Do you have an officiant? If not do not forget your have to pay one to do your ceremony. And dont forget your marriage license!
