Backup date- concerns!

Jennifer, on April 23, 2020 at 4:02 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 2
My wedding is in September but I have decided to get a date in 2021 penciled in for me by my vendors- under the agreement that if they have someone wanting the date I have to decide to postpone or not..

For any brides who have a soft hold on a date... are you concerned if a vendor has someone wanting to book that date and you’re forced to make a premature decision?
I’m so concerned my vendors will reach out because they have another couple wanting to pay for that date and I have to make a decision before I’m ready to make one based on the current situation. I’d hate to make a decision to postpone and then September is a go. Or, I’m worried I’ll give the 2021 date up and stick with September and then I have to have a later wedding date.
The unknown is the absolute worst.

The unknown is difficult to wrap our minds around. Like if there was a crystal ball to see where this will all be by then. First my heart goes to those affected with loved ones.

But I would be lying if I said I haven’t thought about postponing our next May wedding or eloping. Until there is a vaccine and actually administered, who knows when things will be back to “normal”. At the end of the day it’s about you and who you are marrying. I’m afraid to continue with vendor deposits right now because why pay into more if you can’t get that back for the day you can’t have?

    Hi Jennifer,

I'm sorry you're having to think about postponing your September wedding on top of planning your big day. eyFYBiGtFgC4Ag-LxBWWMP5UvJmt7cCKk6ZuRGas

I agree with the recommendation above. While this is definitely an uncertain time, it seems like plenty of September couples are waiting to make postponement decisions. Of course, everyone's situation is different, so it never hurts to be proactive about plan B!

You are definitely not alone right now! ❤️

If I were in your shoes, I would not jump to postpone just yet. Like Kelli mentioned, we aren't able to predict the future, but I would absolutely wait before making your final decision.

Plus, there are many resources on our website to help you navigate the serious decision to postpone your wedding: Our COVID-19 Weddings Advice Guide.

    Hope this helps!
