Back Yard Wedding

Alexciaya, on December 11, 2019 at 7:38 PM Posted in Planning 0 10
So me and my Fiance have decided to have a wedding in his brother in law's parents back yard. Has anyone ever had a wedding in a back yard? We are planning our own wedding and not even sure where to start. Any advice for a backyard wedding?

Just be aware that unless your guest list is very small, a backyard wedding is probably more expensive than one at a venue. The reason is that everything (food, cooking equipment, portable toilets, tables, chairs, etc.) has to be transported to the venue, which gets expensive very quickly.

Most of that stuff we already have at the house. As for portable toilets. They can just use the one on the house lol

Have you started researching Pinterest for ideas of what you want for a wedding? That helped me and it can give you inspiration what you want to start planning.

Look up wedding officiants and what do you think of the ceremony elsewhere and then the reception at the house? Not sure if this is near Sperry but to give you some inspiration? http://www.tulsaweddingminister.com/

My best friend had her wedding in her grandparents' back yard. It was beautiful! Definitely pick the spot where you want the ceremony to happen first and then build around that. Also you need to make sure people can get to the spot (if elderly or disabled guests are attending). In Mississippi, we have fire ants out the wazoo, so she had to treat the spot six months before and then spot checked.

If the reception isn't being held in the house, you would need to rent a tent and have it pretty close to the house since that's where the bathrooms are. Also make sure the area you're going to have the reception at is relatively flat.

And designate an area for parking!
