Back to school! Wedding planning in the classroom

Jo, on September 4, 2018 at 4:05 PM Posted in Planning 0 14

Calling all teachers and students! How do you get your wedding planned while teaching, or while studying? Do you have any tips or hacks for getting a wedding planned around homework, office hours, midterms, and everything else the school year throws at you?

Are you bringing a bit of your classroom into your wedding?

What I do is schedule times. So I have five classes and I only work as a babysitter. When the kids are sleeping I do my homework and online classes and such and when I get home I do wedding planning. Approximately an hour before bed is my wedding planning time! It’s just all about time management! A planner helps bunches!

Hi...I'm a high school and university teacher. I plan in the evenings... usually from 10pm onwards!

Online teacher here, I schedule things in between obligations. Smiley smile

Also, front loading in extra time is critical!

I’ve done most of my planning on my lunch breaks. Right now I’m working as a lab assistant at a hospital on the weekends and during the week I have clinicals(8hrs a day) and then have to come home and study.
The best thing for me was to pick a project and focus on the details of that for the week. Once I made a decision I moved on to the next project. For example, bridal accessories were finished during one week and then the next week I tackled the flowers/ centerpieces. I also gave myself over a year to plan.

I tried to plan as much as possible over the summer! I’m a special education teacher in a high school and love every second of it. Luckily I have an awesome team who helps me when I get overwhelmed with planning!

I’m a teacher and I don’t bring planning to work I work on it in the evenings instead of watching tv and on the weekends. But I did secretly make this countdown the other day...the paper and glue was there and I was too excited to finally be under 450 days

Thankfully I got a decent amount done this summer, but back to school has me putting off things off I thought I'd get to by now! My goal this year is to not bring (much) work home so I can focus on wedding planning when I'm not at work teaching!

I teach a special program in middle schools to girls. We work on domestic violence prevention for at risk girls so we are just looking at setting up meetings with all the girls at each school to present the program and give out permission slips, so right now I have more time "open" when I'm at home working from my computer so I've been giving myself 15 minute planning breaks between major tasks. Or if I'm just waiting for emails to come in (so tomorrow unless one of the schools gets back to me before I get up) and I can be on looking at wedding stuff in the mean time. Once the program starts (in October) and the after school programs I'm running also get started, I have mapped out which craft stores I have to drive past from each building so I make my errands lists early and do them on my way home. Right now I'm frantically working on clothes for e pics take 2 - the fall edition (friend is taking them), and by working on I mean I'm making this outfit too so I'm painting fabric and sewing it together.

I plan at home. I sometimes take care of things if it's on my mind (for example, I attempted to order my invitations during my break time today.) But, usually by the time I get to school, my focus is on the kiddos. I usually wait till this time, right before bedtime, to look at my checklist and see what else I need to try & get done for the month.

I rushed to get as much stuff done before the semester started. Now I've done a little bit here and there and will ramp it up again for winter break.

I’m a teacher and typically try to get a bulk of planning done during breaks. I changed schools and didn’t get a summer break this year so I’ve been in overdrive getting stuff done at home. If something happens that is urgent I will work on it during my lunch breaks. Our fall break is coming up three weeks before the wedding and I plan on taking the week of the wedding off.

Now I try to plan during lunch or after class. And I always try to allocate a certain time, not less than an hour. There are days when you fall off your feet and do not want to do anything, but I force myself because it's for our own good. By the way, I found a very interesting essay here oceanessay.com how to better plan my time, so that everything will be in time. For me it was very useful, maybe you will like it.
