*~* Soon to be Mrs. Murphey *~*, on September 27, 2010 at 9:26 AM Posted in Planning 0 22

I have back fat... trying on the strapless dress showed me i have a back fat problem. I feel like a cow. Can someone please tell me how the hell to get the back fat off? what exercises do you do to ensure there is nothing overlapping your dress.... sigh

Body part target exercises will not make you lose back fat.. you need to focus on over-all body fat loss to begin to lose it...same goes for fat on other parts of the body... jus bc u do 100 sit ups and obliques wont make you lose love handles... you need to do fat burning exercises and focus on total body fat loss... sucks i know.. when you couple those with toning exercises you get the results you want

Hahaha...... I have back fat and everything esle fat too! lol..

But in any event 70% of it your diet. And Cardio Cardio Cardio. Burns away the fat. Also you can try some of these:

Opposite arm and leg lifts: Lie flat on the floor, forehead touching straight down or to the side. Slowly lift your right arm and left leg, keeping your pelvis and chest on the floor, but stop if you feel pain. Hold for a few seconds, lower, and repeat with your left arm and right leg. Try for five reps on each side to start, then work up to more reps (in three sets) as you get comfortable with the movements.

Rear Delt Fly: Sit on the edge of a chair, holding 2-3 pound weights in your hands. Bend forward from the hips, tuck your chin into your chest and make your back flat. Starting with your hands at your calves, slowly bring them up alongside your body, bending your elbows until your shoulder blades squeeze together. Pause, then slowly lower your arms. Go for about ten reps to start (working up to three sets), and if you're not feeling the burn by then...try heavier weights.

Back Extension: Lie on the floor with your hands at your sides (palms down), drawing in your abdomen to your spine. Slowly raise your head and chest; continue looking down, but keep the top of your head tensed as if it is reaching forward. Now lift your hands, flipping your palms so that your thumbs are pointed out. Reach behind you. Your goal is to work toward four reps, holding for twenty seconds.

I would suggest to up the cardio and perhaps rowing exercises...bc its amazing cardio plus you get the benefits of working your back at the same time...which like i said, you need to lose the fat before you can tone it and see results

Haha...I have a gown with straps partially because I'm horrified by back fat and don't want to have to worry about it sneaking up on me in pictures.

I think I'm going to have it too, that is why I opted to wear a veil even though you can still see through it I feel better wearing one to hopefully detract from my fat back, lol! I can't seem to get rid of mine but I think mine is actually loose skin that I acquired after multiple times of losing a lot of weight.

Also..dont be discouraged if you arent losing fat there immediately... everyones different, and you may begin to lose fat in other areas before you lose fat there, bc liek i said there is not target aread for fat loss... but good luck!! and hey isnt any fat loss good fat loss??? lol

Oh and I just want to add.... Don't disregard the toning exercises just because you aren't going to see immidiate results! You will be building muscle under the fat which in turn helps burn fat quicker. The more muscle you have the more fat your body burns naturally.

I noticed that when I was trying on strapless dresses (even though I told the consultant, I don't like them and I don't feel comfortable in them because of my too big of boobs) BUT I was lucky to find a dress where I had no back fat bulging. And I have to agree with Shay, you can TRY and target those areas, but there is no guarntee you will lose in that area, you'll have to go for an all over loss

Even though I'm relatively skinny to the eye... I have stuff that spill over too! I went to try on dresses months ago and I discovered that my armpits and back were overweight LOL.

I have been exercising, but nothing is happening in those specific areas. I may have to rev-it-up!

I'm fairly thin and I still have back fat AND love handles. The only thing that gets rid of it for me is lots of cardio and laying off the pizza, lol. I have never been able to 'spot' exercise.

Despite my size my problem area is my upper body, I'm broad shouldered and my arms tend to carry my weight. No bueno for my strapless dress!!

Picture one is about 3 months before my wedding...back fat!!! When I saw that I hit the gym! Picture 2 is actually me cheking for fat back there at my wedding, NONE!!!!!!!

I went to the gym about 3 times a week and concentrated on doing weights and just a little cardio. The machine with the bar above you head, you sit, grab the bar and pull down...that is great. Or if you have a free bar, or even just dumbells.....standing up bend over at your waist and let the weights hand down....then pull up towards your chest. There are lots of great ones, but here is my proof that it works!!!

Just keep in mind that everyones different...and 'a lil cardio' might work for some while others will need more to see results...generally speaking you should spend 30 minutes minimum doing cardio...bc it takes your body around 20 minutes to begin burning calories... i see soooo many girls at the gym who do the treadmill or elliptical for 8 minutes and then theyre done...pointless..bc your body hasnt begun to burn fat yet...any kind of aerobic exercises that elevate your heart rate for extended periods of time will burn fat, but not if youre not maintaining the heart rate long enough
