Bachelorette Weekend Struggles

Brittni, on February 12, 2023 at 8:28 PM Posted in Parties and Events 0 4
My MOH originally began to plan the bachelorette weekend and wanted it a surprise, but people were unresponsive and it was getting too confusing/stressful so I stepped in to help. The plan is to go ziplining during the day, then go out for drinks at night. Almost all of the ladies said yes to ziplining and everyone agreed to drinks. So we went ahead and planned everything around that idea. However, now people are backing out of the ziplining and we only have maybe half of the group who wants to go. As the bride, I'd love to go since the area we live is small and it's a rare opportunity. There isnt much other fun options with our location/budget so changing activities would be difficult. The other plan we had was to get matching "bride tribe" shirts to wear while ziplining, but now that half the group won't be there, I'm not sure if we should since it'd be excluding those who won't go. (We'd be dressing up for drinks at night so wearing them then is not an option). What would other brides do?

Sounds like a really fun bachelorette for you! I would go ahead with the zip lining with whoever can make it. And I would skip the tshirts. Then regroup and get together with whoever can join for drinks! I hope you guys can make it work. Good luck Smiley smile

I've noticed a trend of bachelorette parties becoming more adventurous. I've been to a bach party that wanted to plan zip lining, white water rafting, then cliff jumping. As someone afraid of heights and not a strong swimmer, I had to tell the bride, quite frankly, I don't want the risk of dying at her party.

It's very likely the girls backing out of zip lining have a similar fear of heights. If you're completely set on that activity, let them bow out and meet the rest of you later for drinks. That way everyone has fun and feels comfortable.

I would suggest that you continue with your plans, and those that are comfortable going can participate. With something like zip lining, or any riskier sport, you'll get a variety of responses. For instance, I would not zip line, because I know someone that was injured doing it, even though I don't have a fear of heights. Also if the trip is destination and needing a number of days, less people will be able to go.

The t shirts sound like more of a photo op than anything, so I would skip them.

I would continue on with the zip lining plan! Then you can meet those who didn’t want to participate afterward for dinner & cocktails. As far as the shirts, I don’t see any issue with it! Like you said, the other girls wouldn’t have a chance to wear them. And if you want to ensure they don’t feel left out, you could also incorporate zip lining into the shirts in order to differentiate the 2 activities. Like you could have bride tribe on one side of the shirt, then on the other side something like “zipping to the alter” or “bachelorette trip” with a line through the word trip and replaced with zip.
