Bachelorette Destinations - HELP!

Deanna, on March 6, 2017 at 11:51 PM Posted in Planning 0 22

My bridesmaids are asking me to pick the bachelorette destination and I can't decide! One is pressuring me to go with Ocean City, MD because it's most convenient to drive there for her a few of the girls, but I'm traveling from California and heard that Ocean City's Seacrets can be too crazy/trashy.

Here are my top choices that I have to decide on tomorrow. I haven't been to either so any feedback is much appreciated!! My ultimate party would be boating and beach fun with some dancing/partying at night.

Ocean City, MD

Charleston, SC

Myrtle Beach, SC

Wilmington, NC

Outer Banks, NC

They all sound fun! Pick what's most convenient. I've been to Ocean City, I don't think it is trashy and I am sure there are people on this forum who live there. That's a pretty offensive statement to make about a place you've never been to.

I would go with convenience for the most people. I went to a wedding in Ocean City last year and it was gorgeous. We didn't go to Seacreats though (I'm airborne anaphylactic to alcohol) so I can't comment on that but the rest of town was so nice.

I've never been to Charleston but my employer has a facility there and it looks so beautiful! Lots of foodie places to eat and really fun things to do. They have a great website to explore as well.

I used to love OCMD but haven't been there in like 20 years or more. I love both MB and Charleston. Plenty of bachlorette like stuff to do in both. This doesn't help your problem but also check out Savannah, Georgia Smiley smile

You're traveling from California to the east coast for a Bachelorette Party? Why? Are the ladies covering your expenses?

Charleston is my favorite city in the US so I'm partial to it! I'm going there for my bachelorette party.

However, I live close to the Outer Banks and they are GORGEOUS! There is not a lot of touristy stuff to do, though. The Outer Banks are meant for gorgeous scenery and relaxing views. So if you and your girls are looking for the crazy night out type stuff to do, the Outer Banks is not the place to go.

Wilmington is nice, too! I live about 1.5-2 hours from there so we do weekend trips there quite often. There is definitely more to do than the Outer Banks, but not as breathtaking of views! The beaches are still nice though. Historic downtown Wilmington is basically a mini Charleston!

I'm personally not a fan of Myrtle Beach! It was okay in high school for the spring breaks and senior week tradition, but it tends to be trashy at times. There is a ton of stuff to do though, so that's a plus. The beaches are okay, but nothing like you'll get at the Outer Banks or Charleston.

I've never been to Ocean City, MD so I can't say one way or the other there. One of my bridesmaids goes there every summer with her family though and they seem to love it!

What month are you planning to have the party? If between June and August, Va Beach may be worth looking into. Good beaches ranging from touristy to private, boat tours, dolphin watching, and a range of bars/clubs with different feels to suit your taste. They also do something called Beach Street USA that brings a ton of live music and street performances to the area.

Personally, I think destinations bachelorette parties aren't worth it. They're more of a headache than anything else.

I don't recommend Ocean City. The beaches and oceans are terrible. Outer Banks is beautiful, so it's anywhere in NC or SC.

I grew up about 30 minutes from Ocean City and went there for a bachelorette party a couple years ago. Seacrets is one of many bars/clubs in OC. It can certainly get a little trashy, but is a ton of fun regardless, especially during the day when everyone is outside drinking and relaxing at tables in the water, which sounds right up your alley. There are plenty of more upscale places in OC too. Another benefit is that you can rent houses right on the beach, which isn't the case in every beach town. I really enjoyed the bachelorette weekend there.

You won't find much of a party atmosphere in OBX, but the beaches are lovely. More relaxing.

    Charleston is beautiful but expensive.

There is something to be said for convenience for the bridal party. Is your wedding in CA? If so, remember they'll all be paying to fly to the wedding too, so having your bachelorette party within driving distance for most of them could be a nice gesture.

Ocean city or Charleston. But if you're looking to party, I think ocean city is your best bet. I went to Seacrets for NYE once. It wasn't trashy, but it's also not an upscale lounge either. There was lots to do too!

I live in wilmington. We have beaches and downtown is pretty but there's not a lot to do as far as clubs and stuff go.

I think Myrtle is trashy. But there's a bunch of shopping and bars if that's what your looking for.

Outer banks is beautiful. You'll definitely find beautiful beaches but I don't think you'll find much dancing.

Charleston would be a winner for me if you have the money.

Outer Banks is nice but there isn't much to do beyond the beaches.

    Charleston is lovely, wonderful downtown.

Myrtle Beach is also nice I go there every year for family reunions, I don't know if I would call Myrtle Beach trashy (their our competition), I live in Va Beach so I could recommend some places here.

I don't know anything about Ocean City.

If I had the choice I'd go Charleston but my family founded Charles Town so I have roots and spent so much time there I am very familiar with the area, I saw some great deals on Airbnb when I last looked.

Charleston is amazing but definitely expensive and more difficult for everyone to travel to.

We always went to Myrtle Beach in college after final exams, so it's always felt a little trashier and "college" to me Smiley smile

Outer Banks are gorgeous but definitely less of a going out scene!

I think I'd go Wilmington or Ocean City! And there are lots of other bars in Ocean City if you don't want to go to Seacrets Smiley smile

Charleston!! My favorite place ever--would move back there in a heartbeat if I could. If you have a group--I'd suggest getting a house on Sullivan's island, then taking a cab onto the peninsula to shop/go out/etc..

If you are concerned about Ocean City being trashy--then you definitely need to nix myrtle beach off your list too! I'm from SC and would rather sit home alone than go to myrtle over the age of 17..

both of those NC beaches are beautiful, but I don't know much about other activities there.

FH used to go to the Outer Banks every summer with his family. It's a popular place for people from NJ to summer; people put oval OBX stickers on the back of their cars to say so. As others have said, it's more of a quiet place to relax.

Wilmington has a DIY punk scene and is indie-esque, if you're into that.
