avoiding tan lines over the summer

Lindsey, on March 11, 2014 at 12:48 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 16

Anyone have any good ideas on how to not get tan lines before wearing my strapless wedding dress (besides bathing in sunscreen everyday)? I get pretty pronounced tan lines on my shoulders and chest and am worried becuase my dress is strapless and my wedding is in August! I was thinking about getting a spray tan and being done with it, but I have really fair skin and am worried that a spray tan would look too wierd.

Sun screen just really protects you from burning and cancer. You would still tan.

as far as swimming goes, you could get bandeau tops or strapless one pieces to help with minimizing tan lines. You wouldnt have any from straps. Otherwise the only other option is to cover up, wear a tube top or carry a parasol with you.

I have never spray tanned so I dont know if it would work after you got tan to fill in the tan lines, but its something to look into!

Don't go in the sun without sunscreen

i have fair skin and i think my spray tan actually looked pretty great. just go for a lighter shade

ETA @Truffle - sunscreen isn't preventing anything if you still tan. Tanning is no different than burning when it comes to skin cancer

I was thinking about this the other day. I have really light skin (so my tan lines get super obvious in the summer), live in Florida, and my wedding is at the end of July. It's going to be a long spring/summer

I used to tan all the time... I'm 38 and now have the start of skin cancer.. if you burn easy please just use lots of sunscreen. If you really want a tanned look try the spray tan. I go to a place that uses the same stuff they use on the "Playboy" Bunny girls and that stuff is amazing!! It gives great cover and color and is not orange at all! Try looking into different spray tans in your area. Ask for a small test area first to see what it will look like with your natural skin tone.

    Good Luck!

I was worried about this too since I also got married in August. I did the spray tan for a few rounds before the wedding to even out my tan. I didn't have very dark tan lines so the spray tan worked for me.

I was just thinking about this the other day! It's gonna be a hard month of summer before the wedding, as I don't usually wear sunscreen and would probably forget it and get some nasty tan lines. Moral of the story is: the sun isn't your friend before the weddingSmiley smile At least for me!

I've been thinking about this too! I run almost every day and end up with pretty ornate tan lines. I'm going to hope a spray tan will even me out but I think I'm going to do my best this year to avoid the sun as much as possible.

Spray tan before the wedding, easy peasy tan line fix! You can message me if you want to and I can tell you more about spray tanning if you aren't familiar with it. I own a spray tan company and have 7 years experience Smiley smile

Bandeau top, and use sunscreen per your normal routine to keep from getting sunburnt. I fail to see the difficulty in this.

Just adding, as a person who would get spray tans often for pageants, they won't always cover up tan lines that well. It depends on if you go to an artist, a booth, etc. I personally if I were you and I didn't want tan lines to show with a spray tan would go to someone that sprays you themselves. You'll have better coverage and they can put more where needed
