austro-Hungarian Wedding Traditions

Do you have any Austro-Hungarian relatives you could ask?

I seem to recall you looking for Blackfoot traditions a while back. I'm all for diversity, but I find it odd when couples co-opt wedding traditions when they don't have a strong culturual identification (such as a relative who could inform you).

Well all of my ancestors that came from that country are not longer alive. I just thought that someone on here would know a few or one tradition thats all. Also all the my ancestors that made up my genealogy are all died but if they were alive hack fire i would totally go & ask them!

Lucinda, maybe stick to wedding traditions that your familiar with? I understand wanting to pay homage to your family traditions, but if those relatives aren't living, I think it might be a lost cause.

I'm with Shannon, I can't stand when people co-opt other people's cultural traditions. Like we have someone here at the office who went to Nepal on a trip and now has prayer flags hanging in their cube, yet they have no connection to that culture other than taking a vacation there. I get that you have Hungarian ancestry and would like to incorporate that, but my question is do you incorporate other Hungarian traditions in your regular life? If you don't, to me at least, it seems disingenuous to bring traditions that you don't follow into your wedding.
