August 7th wedding covid 19

Kortnie, on March 17, 2020 at 3:14 PM Posted in Community Conversations 4 73

Hello all,

We are planning on getting married on August 7th and leaving for our honeymoon in Maui on the 8th right away for the following 8 days (hopefully).

Anyone else in August or late July stressed about wedding cancelations after hearing this could be going to July-August?

I want to know if I'm stressing myself out for nothing.

My heart is absolutely breaking for those having to cancel or postpone their weddings due to this. I have been praying hard.

I think there’s hope yours could be fine!!! But it would be smart to just ask your vendors and venue what options there would be if you ever did need to postpone or cancel

I really hope there is, I have been praying so hard. I just emailed all our main vendors asking if we would be able to postpone if our date is to be affected.

I hope not! Mine was supposed to be 3/21 but it was moved to 8/1. I had the option to even have May but I felt that was wayyy too close.

    I hope your reschedule works!

I am praying that the bans and restrictions will be lifted around June / July and we will have more of a handle on this, however...I will not put any of my guests at risk to exposure if its still present and restrictions are lifted. My mom has too many health problems, as well as his grandparents and sister to allow the wedding to go on of its still high exposure risks.

So scary - August is 5 months away and a lot can happen in that time.

Yes- we are August 8th. Also leaving for Maui on August 14th.
At this point I'm not letting myself worry. It's still far enough away.

I am getting married July 12. We are going to Mexico for our honneymoon at the end of July. As of now, I'm not thinking about postponing our wedding. There is still a decent amount of time left. By then they should have more information about the virus and it should hopefully be gone or start to go away. Fingers crossed!

Also, Trump said it could go on until July or August but he is the only one who has mentioned that so far so I'm not exactly sure where he has gotten that from or how accurate it is. There is no say from anyone else on when this will be over or how long it will go on for. There is still time as well as hope.

    That's a really good point.

I'm hoping things are under control by July to ease our anxieties. I just wish people would take these restrictions more seriously.

    I hope so!

I emailed all of our vendors making sure we will be able to postpone if necessary.

We did our photography and videography through Complete Wedding and Events and they said they will postpone if we want for nothing extra - they also said no june, july or august brides have canceled or postponed so far.

Yeah, I'm trying to not let myself get too panicked right now. Our wedding is August 8th and we're going to Orlando for our honeymoon on the 14th.

Our ceremony/reception is actually being held on a college campus, so there's definitely a bit more panic with that part of it, as I'm not sure what'll happen if the campus truly closes (currently, students are online but staff and admin are still operational).

I'm planning on touching base with all the vendors in the next week or two to find out information. Come mid/late June, my fiancé and I will talk and see what steps we feel we need to take.

I worry (a lot) about things in general, so I'm doing my best to not let it overwhelm me.

Stay strong! We're all in this together!! Smiley heart

I’m getting married July 18 and I’m worried, but hopeful that this mess passes. I haven’t contacted my vendors and hope I don’t need to. I’m giving myself a timeline that if this continues past the 8 week recommended period, I’d reach out and see what can be done with postponing. Gosh, I hope it doesn’t have to get to that point. Been planning this day for almost a year and we’re literally waiting until we’re married to move in and start life together. Just praying this all goes away soon! 🙏🏽

Hey date twin! This has crossed my mind but I'm trying not to worry about it. Theres literally no way to tell how long this will go or if it will be over by August. We are going to proceed like normal and then reevaluate when we get closer and things get a little clearer.

    Hey!

I am trying to take that approach as well, praying that God can just guide me along the way.

I contacted all 3 major vendors (photographer / videographer, venue and DJ) asking about options if a postpone is necessary hoping they wont charge extra just so I can have a little more rest in the thought.

I hope things clear up within the 8 week period they're discussing and planning on, and that afterwards things get back to normal.

Also we have SO much that already has our original date on it that it would be such a pain to reorder everything such as our welcome sign, flutes, etc that we might just elope on our original date if necessary and postpone ceremony and reception for the nearest possible date.

I hope you get to have your big day as scheduled, this is tough times for sure.

I hope you don't need to either!

Praying for you and everyone else that this ends very soon. God is with us and he has a set plan, just need to find comfort in that even though it is SO hard!

We will have been planning for a year once May hits - I am just so ready to marry the man of my dreams and sip on a cocktail at the beach lol.

This will pass - just hopefully sooner than later!!

    Oooh, that is scary!

However, our campus at my college is still open to students just not holding classes so I hope if possible you will still be able to hold it there!

I worry a lot in general as well so this is definitely difficult to go through.

Definitely stay strong, it will pass.

July 25th and leaving for Grand Cayman on the 26th. I just sent another payment to my venue and they accepted it without any further comment. I’m waiting at least a month before I start considering postponing, I’m sure there are a lot of couples figuring out what to do for their spring weddings so mine is not as urgent.

Thank you for the reassurance, I really hope so!

I emailed my vendors a little while ago asking if we will be able to postpone if necessary and not be out money. Our most expensive vendor responded and said they will postpone us for no additional cost and are wanting to help as much as possible - it was Complete Wedding and events, we booked photography and videography through them.

Thats a good point, my heart is definitely hurting for those getting married March to May.

I hope things are cleared by June and that you get to have your special day as planned.
