August 2020 Weddings - Postponing?

Marisa, on March 27, 2020 at 1:38 PM Posted in Planning 1 28
Is anyone choosing to cancel their August 2020 wedding as of now? Ours is August 29th.

We are going ahead as planned for our August 15th wedding. I think it is too early to cancel, and most vendors are trying to help their March/April/May brides right now.

Ours is Aug 30th. We're not canceling. Most brides are postponing TO August. Also, theres no way the economy will survive with all business closed for that length of time. Just wont happen. As long as people continue to stay home and this virus slows down-which it will, then all will get back to "normal" sooner rather then later. Its too soon to be worried. Id be concerned if nothing changes by June but its soo unlikely. Fingers crossed!

My wedding is May 16th and just had to make the awful decision to postpone it. But I am looking at the end of July or August for my postpone dates. So let’s hope this does not go that long!

My fiance and I are getting married August 29th and as of now we are not postponing or canceling. I reached out to my vendors (florist, DJ, Photobooth, Hair/Make-up, Photographer) and they were all extremely understanding. They said if we do postpone or cancel they would work with us on a new date. My venue (who are currently closed) was slightly different...they are only giving couples who have weddings through April 30th the opportunity to cancel/postpone. Anyone else after that would be subject to full cancellation policies. They did say they are monitoring the situation and if more dates are affected they would reach out to those couples. The venue said it is just to early to know what will happen. I'm hopeful by then things will have gotten better, but it is hard to stay positive.

I am also August 29th, and we are moving forward as planned. My (surprise) bridal shower (that I'm supposed to know nothing about) was supposed to be at the end of April though, and that got postponed.

My Fiance and I are getting married in June and I'm hoping it wont last that long but I'm super fearful as weve waited 9 years to get married! As of right now our venue is postponing April weddings until the 30th I think well be okay just another hump to get over! It's so hard to be positive when all you hear is negativity. Stay healthy and keep happy!

Ours is July 11 and we haven’t postponed yet. Our vendors and venue is understanding if we do. I’ll make my decision in May since I’ll need to get my invites out if I don’t postpone. Hoping this clears up by then. Good luck and stay healthy all!

Mine is also August 29th. I’m getting a lot of pressure to postpone, but I’m trying to hold out hope. Our venue has cancelled all through mid May at this point. Unless they cancel/postpone, we are responsible for the cost. Unfortunately, almost all of my guests are traveling, and they are fairly elderly. I’m worried that no one will come. I’m pretty sure my best friend won’t be able to come which kills me, but she’ll be about 6 weeks postpartum and with all this going on, she won’t risk it. At least maybe she could wear the dress elsewhere. Re: my venue - there is an 100 person minimum, so if only, for example, 5 people show up, we still are paying for 100 which does not feel fair. I’m hoping maybe the venue will work with us to bring it down, at least 1/2 of that. I do t think this is going away, and it will be coming back, through the years, so postponing seems just as useless. I just have been dreaming of wearing my dress, and seeing all the gorgeous flowers we planned as I walk down the aisle to my FH. I’m crushed at the likelihood that none will happen. We are older as well, and I really didn’t want to be Any older of a bride. Not sure why.

My wedding is 8/22/2020 too. 😔 The bridal shower in is June (will probably cancel), the bachelorette party is destination in July and the Wedding is in August. I haven’t cancelled anything yet. I’m stressed 🙄
