August 2020 Outdoor Wedding

Emily, on October 3, 2019 at 8:36 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 4

We are getting married 8/29/20 outside in Nashville, TN! (I know- it's the south and hot, but we only had two dates to pick from because I am a full time grad student).

Any advice on what time to start the ceremony for the best temperature/lighting?

Tips for outdoor weddings/keeping everyone cool?

We are already planning on handheld fans during the ceremony and tent fans for the reception. There is a house for guests to escape the heat, but it is not large enough to host any type of reception.

Thanks in advance for the help!

(please don't leave comments about how I am crazy/torturing my guests).

I would start the ceremony in the evening for sure! Will the reception be indoors any?

No...I wish that was an option. But we will have cocktail hour on the back patio by the pool which has a covered area with fans (I believe). Then dinner and the band will be in a large tent with fans.

Welcome to the WeddingWire community, Emily!

To figure out the best time to start your ceremony, I would advise you speak with your wedding photographer about lighting and the best time to take your photos. Using this information, you can then decide the best time to do the ceremony. An evening ceremony and reception may be best when it typically cools off.

As Melle shared, a hydration station with ice cold water would be super appreciated by guests Smiley smile
