8/1 here. We went out save the dates in I think September, but since we have so many out of town guests, we are going to send out invites early as well (to try to get hotels booked, flights arranged for those who have not yet). Thinking mid-April to mid-May once we have our tasting so we can put food options online for our RSVPs.


I consider our wedding a “destination” wedding since even though it’s in our city, all of our family is out of town and many friends.

Wedding date twins!! Ours is kind of a destination wedding as well. All of my family/ parent's friends are from Illinois (where I am from), but our wedding is in Iowa (where we live now).

We aren’t too far from you, we are in Kansas City. His family is from StL, so at least it’s drivable. My family is mostly in NY, so they need to book airline tickets. Although some will be road-tripping 😁

We have a few guests/ bridesmaids and groomsmen that are coming from across country and world!

Currently, we are looking at groom/groomsmen suits, taking dance lessons, and waiting on a few upcoming things - pre-Cana retreat weekend in March, venue planning meeting in March, venue (food) tasting in April. Then we can really get into details including song choices for ceremony, readings, signage to order, etc.
I’m also needing to do a makeup trial to select a makeup artist.
Latest stress that was finally completed was bridesmaid/MoB dress

Oh, we also will be working on honeymoon details, flights and hotels already booked (Croatia).

That's awesome you're doing ice sculptures!! I bet that will be super pretty. Have you looked at designs for invite or know where you're going through? Ours just came in the mail yesterday!! Ordered them early so it gives plenty of time to address the inside and outside envelopes (once my fiance finally gets all his friends addresses lol).

Tux's will be fun! I think we're doing that in April! Are you doing traditional black? and sounds yummy! Is the tasting for dinner? cake?

We're just going to do one as an Ice Luge (pour drinks down it). we've been to a lot of events with them and it's a fun guest experience and was surprisingly not as expensive as I thought! only a couple hundred bucks.

What are you doing for your invites? I think we finally made some decisions on hours.

We're doing black tuxes -- although I LOVE a navy blue tux with a black lapel, but hey the guys should get to pick what they want to wear. It's nothing that's too out there, like a camo tuxedo or something Some battles are not worth fighting.

Our tasting is for our dinner menu! Did you do this yet??

Where did you decide to stay in Croatia? We're also getting married 8/1 and we want a beach vacation and caribbean is out

We did our pre-cana retreat last weekend and honestly it was really great. My fiance was dragging his feet, but even he said he had a good time and we covered a lot of ground on little issues that were starting to bubble up.

View Quoted Comment We are planning to hop around - Zagreb to Split to the islands of Brac, Hvar, Korcula then end up in Dubrovnik. If anything, I wish would have more time in Split and Dubrovnik but we want to see as much as possible.
Ours is pretty much the tourist route, I think there may be some less crowded options. We are concerned with August being one of the busiest months in Croatia (and most beach European places) but oh well

I have attached pictures of the invites! I forgot to take an actual picture of them yesterday!! I am soo happy with how they turned out!! The first picture is the RSVP card which is just a postcard and has our address on the back. Then the second two are the front/ back of the invites

Nothing wrong with traditional black -- like you said have to pick your battles.

And no, our caterer does a big thing in March for a bunch of people to go to. So we will be going then
