Attn: All 10-10-20 brides! When are you sending your Stds?

Jamie, on September 24, 2019 at 11:39 AM Posted in Planning 0 15
Because this date is "cutesy" we've already had 2 different people we planned on inviting tell us they have another wedding to attend that day! So I'm wondering if we should get our STDs out early. I was thinking January. It's a local wedding, the furthest people are about an hour away for our venue. I know typical is something like 4-6mo, but since everyone seems to be getting married that day, should we let people know about our wedding earlier? Or is January too soon? When are other 10-10-20 brides planning on sending their STDs?

    January sounds great.
Once you’re within the calendar year, I don’t think an early save the date can really *hurt* ... just as long as your plans and guestlist are totally solidified by then!

Our wedding is 10/3/20 but I’m sending out my STDs in a few weeks! We have a lot of out of state/country friends and family though so we’re giving them time to sort out finances, travel plans and such.

I am sending mine out next week. We are getting married in Philadelphia, PA and we have a lot of people traveling from Florida, California, and other states. We also are inviting a few people from out of the country. My thought is that I want to give people time to save and plan and also get them out before the holidays come.

Since your guests are mainly local, I think January would be a good time. Its after the holidays but still plenty of time in advance.

We sent ours out 10 months early! We had a lot of out of state guests so they needed more notice.

Thanks for the replies!! My mom is concerned that its "too early" and people will basically forget when the wedding is "since there will still be snow on the ground, and no one will be thinking about October." Lol.

I'd wait until January at the earliest. There is definitely such a thing as inviting too early. Anything can happen in a year and you don't want to lock yourself into a guest list too soon.

We sent ours 10 months out because all of my side had to travel from PA to FL and a lot of friends were in other states as well. It is a popular date, but remember that even if they got save the dates for other weddings that day they haven't gotten the invite. All that matters is whose RSVP they respond to when you send out invites later next year.

Save the dates mean nothing, other than letting them know they have a decision to make.

We’re having a semi-destination wedding in Vegas and 99% of our guests also live in Southern California. We’ve been telling a few people verbally. But if they can’t make it… No big deal!

We plan to send our save the dates in January as a Happy New Year type of message.
