Asking for Addresses

How exactly have you went about asking for addresses? Should I just ask them or get them myself? A lot of them I can find online but not sure if that's proper etiquette or if they would think its weird that I found their address without asking for it. Maybe I am just overthinking things.

I created a Google Form for people to fill out. It was super easy and the responses populated into an Excel sheet. I was then able to sort based on family, friends, etc. It also makes it easy to populate into WW's site for seating chart and other wedding event invites. I sent out the link to the form via Facebook, text, and email. For FH family, I got the list from his mom and added the addresses to the form.

I sent fb messages. They just said something like:

    Hey!

FH and I would love to have you come celebrate our marriage with us! Where can we send your invitation?

My FMIL got the addresses for her guests. Otherwise we just shot a text or message.

I asked FMIL for all of the addresses from FH's side of the family. My parents are divorced, so I asked my father for the addresses for his side and my grandmother (my mother's mother) asked for something to help with so I asked her if she could collect the addresses for her side of the family. I gave them each a list of the names for which I needed addresses, that way they were absolutely clear on who would/wouldn't be invited so they didn't ask random estranged relatives like crazy third cousin Larry for his address lol (I don't actually have a cousin Larry - this is purely for illustrative purposes). This way they don't ask people who aren't invited, thereby giving those people false hope that an invitation is forthcoming.
