As a wedding guest myself, I don't really understand guest complaints

This is one of my biggest fears....

I always hate when I'm at weddings and people criticize how their meat is done and don't stop complaining about it! Thankfully I don't have a guest list like this, but even if I did, I wouldn't let their complaints bother me. FH and I tasted the food that we've chosen, and we think it's delicious!

I agree with @Crystal... I don't think we are friends/related to people who would say horrible things like they hated our wedding, but give people a few drinks, and who knows?! I really hope everyone has a blast...

I think at that moment you have to realize that you will not please every single guest at the wedding. Do I think it is rude for someone to complain loudly? Yes, absolutely....but you are not going to be able to make them happy in that moment.

If someone was loudly complaining about my wedding that I spent so much time working on, I would definitely be hurt and upset. I would then stay away from that person and surround myself with all the love and positively that my other guests are offering.

If I heard someone complain I would just go overboard with sarcasm and humor:

"Oh no! Your highness, have I displeased you?"

"Is there anything else I can do to cheer you up? Stand on my head?"

etc.

Having worked at a hospital with lots of seniors (who complain about everything even when it's free) I would say sweetly "Would you like your money back?" That line usually shut them up but that wouldn't work well with a wedding...

Everything is in the delivery though...you have to have a bit of upbeat zaniness in your tone or you sound way too bitchy.

People can be so rude! Wedding's are the best - free food, open bar (usually), good music, tons of people you know, CAKE. Who would complain?! Just leave if you don't like it!

I DID complain about my food once at a wedding. My "vegetarian" meal had bacon in it. And it took me a couple bites to notice. I was PISSED. But I would have *never* said anything to the bride & groom, or said anything within earshot of them.

@O&S - that's cuz you're beautiful and fabulous and there wouldn't be anything bad to be said about your wedding!

I worry too much about making sure my guests have a good time. I know that. I'm trying to change it. *sigh*

Wow, your captchas are way harder than mine! Mine is an awesome little check box that says "I'm not a robot" and that's it. I just click the check box.

I am also just getting the "I'm not a robot" check mark, not too bad. I wouldn't like having to do the bread puzzle though. I am on google chrome, what browser are you using?

ETA: Anyone complaining at the wedding, especially in earshot of the couple is rude. But no matter what, you can't please everyone. I would hope that most people attending a wedding would know that most brides put tons of time, effort, and money into their day and take that into account before bitching.

I'm on chrome and it's asking me to do the food thing.

I've only had really one complaint about a wedding - the food was terrible. My whole table thought so, even the groom's family.

But really, as long as there's cake and people I know, I'm ok.

Yeah I don't understand complaining at a wedding. it's ignorant.

When FH and I went to our friends' wedding over the weekend, we were concerned that there wouldn't be anything we could eat (we're on a no-carb diet). But if our concern turned out to be warranted, we would have munched on veggies and complained only to each other after we got home.

I don't understand complaining at ANY party that the guest is not paying for! What happened to just being god damn grateful that someone likes you enough to invite you to a party?! (even if its a birthday party and you ARE paying), go with a smile, no complaints or don't go if you don't like it. (same goes for a wedding).

Luckily, I didn't have any one complain (at least not loudly).

A wedding is a party! As long as it's a fun party, and the hosts aren't being rude (following etiquette) then any guest complaint is just petty.

This is why that show four weddings always bothered me. Those girls would complain about the silliest things. Sadly, given the cost, a lot of wedding food that I have had wasn't that good. Probably has to do with preparing food for a large number of people. I would never voice that, it's still food, and I am at a wedding not a restaurant.

It's so unfortunate, but IDGAF. I'm trying my hardest (as are most brides) to plan a nice event and celebration. I like to think I invited guests that won't complain but there's always one. I've been to weddings where people complained constantly about the drink options offered or the way the night went. My opinion is to leave. You were invited to celebrate with the couple and to me it's rude to comment about it at all. They aren't catering to you.

If I didn't like the food I mentally added it to the list called "places I won't get married!"

The only time I complained about the food was a wedding where shrimp was sitting on the steak , there was no food choice. FH's Aunt is highly allergic to shellfish. FH hates shellfish. I gave him my steak, and I ate his shrimp. But I thought the fact they put something a good chunk of people are allergic too on the dish without thinking wasn't the greatest idea.
