As a bridesmaid, what are some things that you would like to receive?

I'm talking about things that you would actually use more than once.

If I were a BM I would want services paid for me like hair or nails and a nice card. I however tried to think practical - I am getting my ladies monogrammed travel bags for their makeup from Etsy. They are both flying otherwise I would get them booze for sure.

Something personal and not match-y or generic or overdone.

Although a manicure and pedicure would be nice!

I agree with personal gifts (not necessarily personalized /engraved), but if someone gave me earrings it wouldn't be much use to me. Your BMs should be ppl you know well , so you should know what to get Them.

I personally wouldn't mind a nice necklace that the bride wanted me to wear to her wedding. But the bm shirts/gear would be pretty useless.

If you can afford to pay for MUA or hotel or hair that is always great, but that stuff can also get expensive. Other things I have/would like: booze (if not flying), edible gifts (ie: candy, etc), or a nice note. I was in one wedding and she got us all the same earrings and then something personal to each of us, which I thought was cool. I got a Big Bang Theory Blanket.

Personally I'm not a huge fan of the only gift being something for the wedding. I'm cool if I get jewelry to wear for the wedding, but I think you should include something small with it or at least a nice note.

So far I have gotten my maids big tote bags (not personalized because I know some girls don't love that and if they want to get rid of the bag, I don't want them to not be able to), I'm getting them robes for the day of as well as lip glosses, a clutch and a small perfume all from Victoria's Secret. Then I'm going to get them all personalized extra things... I would be incredibly happy with this gift if I were a maid! Smiley smile

What about something like this? Unique initial for each person in bridal party.

You can find it at: https://www.chloeandisabel.com/boutique/reemennenga

I had photo books made for my girls. Each books has my favorite photos through out our friendship as well as our favorite sayings and inside jokes. The front page consists of a personalized letter and on the last page I added a little thank you for all they have done throughout this stage in my life

My 3 bm's are busy working moms so I got them each 3 hours of professional maid service. Very unorthodox yes but I know they'll be ecstatic! My moh, I'm thinking of getting her a mani/pedi or facial/massage or something! She has no kids and lives w her mom so doesn't clean anyways. I love getting gift certificates best personally!

@Amanda, that is freaking genius! Both my MOH (SIL) and bridesmaid (FSIL) are working moms and that would be perfect. Thank you for the idea!

I'm glad I read this post! So far im getting tote bags with their initials, jewelry, cosmetic bag with lipstick, compact mirror, tide white pen, bobby pins, personalized hanger, bridesmaid cup. After all of this personalized wedding day stuff I really want to them something not related to the wedding. I really like the gift card idea so maybe a gift card to MAC for each girl.

Non-wedding related gifts are best, in my opinion. Meaning, no jewelry for the wedding, nothing inscribed with your name or wedding date, etc. The exception is if you pay for hair/makeup for every girl. That's a really nice gesture since lots of girls would like to be pampered but may not have the funds. I'm gifting my BMs a Birchbox gift certificate with an actual Birchbox box full of goodies - candle in a dish that can be cleaned and repurposed (jewelry, whatever), necklace, hand lotion, fun hair ties.

When I was MOH for my sister's wedding she gave us all earrings and Coach clutches for the wedding, and we all LOVED them - I still wear the earrings/use the clutch years later, and it was one less thing to worry about when preparing for the day. Got my bridal party earrings off Etsy, still need to figure out the rest (though I agree with the general consensus that getting ready robes, shirts, etc. are useless).

I'd like a small token jewelry item, something from Etsy or Blue Nile, cost $20-40. and that suits my taste and personal style. I think the problem is often brides try to find something that they can give everyone, but that is nearly impossible to do, and the gift is for each person to remember the wedding when they use it, so it doesn't have to be all the same.

The other thing I love is perfume - I collect it, and I would welcome to have a new fragrance to add to my collection... I'd want to get it while we we're getting ready so we could wear it for the ceremony. Something that ties in the flowers in her bouquet, or the season, or even just something she loves. TJ Maxx sells a ton of popular fragrances for <$20, and that would be awesome, because scent memory is very strong, and it would be a lovely way to recall the day.

I did not pick one thing - I gave jewelry, but my girls tastes are wildly divergent, and one did not have pierced ears, so several got earrings and one got a ring, but they all were different styles. That was the only way I could be sure they'd wear them again and again, and they do! Everything came from Blue Nile, which has fantastic, insane sales on something all the time, and uses gorgeous packaging.

I'm with Zoe - I'd actually love a picture of the bride and me, 4x6 or 5x7, that's in a nice fun pretty frame, than most other stuff. But I'm not a big drinker, but the issue for more is that a bottle of wine is ephemeral.... there's no memory of it as soon as you finish it, and you throw the bottle out.

I've gotten them a few things. First were things not related to the wedding - bow earrings, a gold heart necklace with their initial on it (something that i've seen all of the girls wear multiple times since, hooray!), tote bags. For the actual wedding, I'm getting them their earrings and a monogrammed jewelry bowl. I'm also paying for half their hair expense, but not really as a gift..just because I think it's pricey.

I bought my bridesmaids personalized hangers with their names on them (Mrs. Lastname). Everyone I've shown has loved them (not the bridesmaids just yet)! Ill probably throw in another gift since I got them all at a good price on etsy for buys in "bulk"

There are some good ideas on here though!

I'm purchasing their jewelry, pashminas (which can be used again) and maybe a clutch if I can find some for a decent price and also something they can use again.

My opinion is that if you wouldn't buy it for them as a birthday present, it does not make a good bridesmaid gift. All the time on Pinterest you see "bridesmaid gift" ideas that are really just because the bride thought it would look cute in pictures: monogramed bathrobes, matching tumblers, custom hangers, nail polish or jewelry that they are supposed to wear during the wedding, etc. It's not a very thoughtful gift if you buy it out of self-interest.

My advice is just to think about their personalities, hobbies, or favorite candies or booze. I know my preference would certainly be a bottle of wine!

I didn't read all the comments so I don't know if this has been mentioned already... a standard line used here is shop for them like it's their birthday. You know your BMs. Some girls like getting cutesy monogrammed tumblers and some would rather have a GC for a pedi. I got my BMs monogrammed totes with monogrammed zip up hoodies, a unique necklace I picked out based on their individual styles (not to be worn day of) and Posh mini-mergency kits. One BM was super excited about the kit and the hoodie, the other was most excited about her necklace. But... what they were more excited about was the fact that I paid for their hair and makeup. Even though it wasn't part of their gift, they were most appreciative of keeping that $180 in their pockets.
