Around what time did people leave your wedding?

Kaitlyn, on February 21, 2018 at 11:59 PM Posted in Planning 0 14
Our wedding is 6-11pm on a Saturday evening. Ceremony at 6pm - cocktail hour - then proceeds to reception. Open bar, fantastic DJ, dessert bar - the whole package. Is there any timeline that encourages guests to stay engaged and stay for the entirety/most of the wedding or is it sort of just chance? I recently went to a wedding with a ceremony at 4pm, dinner at 6pm - most people were gone by 7pm. Trying to avoid this situation if possible.

My wedding will also be 6-11. I dont think it’s usually anything to worry about. I would assume after ceremony and cocktail time that you’ll be eating around 8pm, then dancing and socializing will happen for about 2 hours. I’m having a photobooth for extra entertainment, but in my experience people usually stay until very close to the end just because they enjoy being there!

If the music is good and the drinks are flowing we stay till the end. The only times I remember leaving early was a Friday wedding that we both worked all day before going, and one with a bad DJ and cash bar.

My wedding was booked from 6 to 11, but most left around 9:30. Maybe because it was mostly family, and not much of partiers any more.

Ours was on Sunday- technically 6-11 pm. Party wrapped up around 10 pm. Most were gone by 9 pm. People stayed to socialize after dinner though.

We had ceremony at 4:30p, most folks started leaving around 8p but we had a Sunday wedding. Locals who had the.furthest to drive were the first to leave.

Our wedding was a Thursday from 630-1130. A lot of our family left shortly after cake cutting, around 1030. Most of our friends partied with us until the last song. We were just at a Friday night wedding that was 7-midnight, from what I could tell it was the same, most of their friends stayed until the last dance and family left after cake cutting.

A lot will depend on your crowd. Ours was a Saturday weddinng with ceremony at 530pm. We had the venue until 11pm but most of our guests left by 1030pm. To be fair, most of hour guests also had at least a 45 minute drive as well.

My wedding will be from 4:30 to 11, I anticipate a lot of people leaving around 9-10pm, I think the bar will be closing around 10:30 and the last song will be at 10:45 so we can do a send off.

The bar is open bar and we splurged on the DJ so that we can have ambient mood lighting (changes color in time with the music) AND 100 glow sticks (I'll be buying more too at the dollar store because they're cheap and what a cool thing to add!)

I'm trying to avoid the same situation, so I'm hoping the free booze and good music/party will keep people around.

We're also researching ideas for a late night snack around 9:30ish since dinner will be at 6, I'm sure some people will stick around just for that!

Our daughter's wedding is also from 6-11 pm. If people choose our transportation, they will be there till the end! We usually stay until the end or near the end of a wedding.

I usually stay until the end unless its cash bar or rather boring/bad DJ. I love to dance so I love weddings! If it's a super late wedding (until midnight or later) I might leave early if I have to drive home.

Our closest pals and immediate families stayed till the bitter end--things started to clear out a bit around 10-11 but we kept going till midnight. reception had started around 6:15.

My wedding was from 4-9 on a Sunday. Most people started leaving around 8:30, as did the groom and myself. But since my wedding was on a Sunday evening, I found that to be an appropriate time to leave.
