Arm cover up ideas

Melissa, on February 6, 2017 at 6:30 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 18

I'm going to order my dress next month and originally wanted sleeves added, but it was far too expensive. I decided I would put a deposit down on the dress and figure it out later. Well, it's about to be later and they'll want to order the fabric with the dress.

I really want to cover up I guess the bicep area of my arms. They're fatty and loose skin and I'm really self conscious about them. I would like it to look like it's a part of the dress.

Here's my dress, ideas in comments. Sorry on mobile one at a time.

This is the type I feel like will work best. Make it a little more full coverage.

Or this one which I don't like as much but would cover my back fat a little.

ETA: any other suggestions are welcome and asked for!

Purchase a Balero...I think that's how it's spelled. I was looking at them today to wear at the altar and take off during the reception. They are fairly inexpensive.

I really don't like boleros, my dress had lots of beading and I don't want it covered up. I also would like it to be something that stays covered all day.

I don't mind tulle, or organza, which is the fabric on the bottom of my dress and they could order it to match. Maggie sottero sells matching cap sleeves, but there's no coverage.

I vote for No. 1. I feel like the second one might not stay in place very well? But a seamstress would know better.

#1 with more fabric added. I'm in the same boat as you and I drove myself crazy trying to find a dress either with some type of sleeve or with a neckline where a sleeve could be easily added. I also hate bolero jackets.

Thanks everyone! I agree I think the first option is better. Wasn't a huge fan of the second from the start. I'll talk to my seamstress, definitely.

@leanna it's so frustrating!! I found a dress that had sleeves on it, but I kept putting this one back on and I found nothing else compared. So it's like what do I compromise? I figured the overall better dress was the better option.

Have you thought about cap sleeves? I have the same issues with my arms. Initially I was planning on doing a swag sleeve style, similar to your 1st pic; but I don't want to feel like I'm hiding at all...just me. Then I thought cap sleeves to bring the eye up/away from my bicep area. Instead of bolero, a cap sleeve would still keep the top of my strapless dress open. IDK yet...this week I'm thinking of screw it...my dress is awesome why do I want to mess with it?!? LOL Hope you find what you are most comfortable in : )

If you really want to cover up and are self-conscious, then I say, go for number one. The most important thing is that you feel as beautiful as you look on your wedding day. Self-confidence is the last (but most important) accessory you can add to your wedding day attire. By the way, your gown is gorgeous.

BHLDN sells all kinds of things you can wear to make it look like sleeves or just cover up more!

Gorgeous dress!! I agree #1 could match the bottom of your dress nicely and would go well. That said... your fiancé loves you and your arms just as they are, so if it won't work, I'd tell you to just go sleeveless rather than cover up the beading!

Edit: I used the word "dress" 5 times and felt silly

    Thanks everyone.

Honestly it's my own comfort. If I see my arms in all the pictures I will have a meltdown. For some reason my arms are just the worst most stubborn part of my body and it's so frustrating, I've been self conscious my entire life and this one time I don't want to think about having to hide them all day.

I bought this chiffon shawl from Amazon, but I only wore it to the dinner after our ceremony.
