Are you serving shots at your wedding?

I am thinking about buying 3 of the huge bottles of fire ball (really popular in my crowd). Are shots popular in weddings? I have NEVER been to a wedding with free alcohol so I am not sure if it is typical to serve shots?

I don't really want to have a lot of shots at my wedding, but my venue allows it.

We will be having shots of ouzo, because it is a cultural thing for FH's Greek family. I will not be having any shots of ouzo because that just sounds unpleasant, but if they want to, they are free to go for it!

I couldn't tell you if anyone did shots at my wedding. But I can tell you that I ruled out venues because they didn't allow shots. I wanted my guests to have that option if they wanted them. I wasn't worried about issues because I knew "my" guests well and there had never been issues with shots in the past. I trusted DH's guests to know how much was enough and as far as I know there weren't any issues due to shots.

Our venue is BYOB so we are taking maybe one handle of Colombian liquor that is very popular to take as shots. It's called Aguardiente and it tastes like licorice and not that strong. We are getting the tiny shot glasses for that though. so that's the only liquor we are having and it's kind of a cultural thing so that's why i'm okay with it.

Honestly, most weddings I've been to the bartenders would not serve shots. We have been to many weddings... like more than a dozen, all with open bars and none that served shots.

Almost none of the venues where I work serve shots anymore. (NYC/NJ)

We are allowing shots, but you should definitely check with your venue. Some have rules to not allow shots, others don't.

My venue does not allow shots. However, I believe you can it straight on ice. But I know my FH will make sure he has his Shots, shots, shots!!

Our venue doesn't allow shots and no one can order their drink "neat" to try to get away with it either.

Part of our venues contract - no shots. The contract also included the maximum amount of alcohol per mixed drink, as restricted by law, and no more than 5 hours of open bar, during the evening. The after party in our suite = no rules.

My venue has a no shot policy. At first I was upset because I wouldn't mind having a few shots during the reception lol. But my friends like to party so a "no shot rule" isn't such a bad idea after all.

My venue won't do shots. In fact, it's written into our contract.

My venue allowed our guests to order shots, and it was great. One of my favorite pictures (non-pro- haven't gotten those back yet) is of me pouring 20 shots of whiskey.

As with all other alcohol, the bartenders just wouldn't serve shots if the person appeared too intoxicated. We didn't have any issues.

If fireball is big in your group and your venue allows you to serve shots, then I'd say go for it!
