Are you really going to watch your wedding video again?

Unfortunately they're pretty expensive (for the good ones) and I already have an amazing photographer, so do I really need one?

How many of you married ladies actually watch your wedding video?

Thanks! Smiley smile

If you can fit it in the budget do it! Once your old, you will watch this video more. You children will also love to watch this video. It is something that will not be pulled out often but when it is, it's a priceless moment. Imagine watching your grandmothers wedding video...

I decided to not spend the money, but a close friend of mine sat during the entire ceremony and recorded it with her cell phone!! What an awesome surprise and I have watched it about 20 times since then. She said she was sad that nobody did this on her wedding day, so she wanted to do it for me.

It is a priceless memory of my father walking me down the aisle ( he has since fallen and is using a walker). We also can hear all of our vows as we spoke them, with all of the emotion, it was awesome.

I got married about 3 months ago, and I've been pretty sick since the wedding, so I haven't had a chance to do much of anything with it to tell you the truth. I like to make and edit videos for fun, so the plan was always to edit it myself.

I kind of wanted a video, but it was never on top of the list. So I just took my good camera, but it on a tripod on the corner and let it rip Smiley smile everyone thought I was insane, but it worked out fine for me. Smiley smile it was either do that or not have a video, so I just went for it, and so glad that I did.

To us it was worth it - having video memories of our family and friends who won't be with us forever. I still love looking back at old family videos and reminiscence and there were many things captured on film that couldn't be conveyed in just a photograph. We've watched it several time and it's available on a flash drive and on vimeo so we don't have to worry about the technology becoming obsolete.

Oh wow, there are so many reasons to get one! I think if I had a slightly bigger budget, I would do it... but I splurged on a fantastic photographer, which I know I won't regret (see below attached pics from our shoot - a few of my favourites!) However I do have an SLR, so maybe I'll get someone to film the important parts (walking down the isle, vows, speeches) on my Canon and I can re-watch those moments Smiley smile

@Victoria Thank you so much, that's very kind of you to say. We just got the full hour and 20 minute video and it's a real tearjerker too with so many awkward and funny moments too. So much stuff I had completely forgotten about over just the past almost 6 months. I know I'm going to cherish it forever.

Wow the one person that I thought would comment on this subject hasn't made an appearance. That's odd. I think if it's in your budget then go for it. They may be able to capture things the photographer didn't. Plus our videographer will also be able to capture comments from guests or any well wishes they would like to say to us.

We've watched it a few times, with both sets of parents, and grandparents again. Also, some of the people we weren't able to invite saw it. One couple that was a last-minute no-show: the wife was diagnosed with double-lung cancer so we mailed them a copy.

Throughout most of the planning process I was so adamant on not having a video , cause like you I also hate my voice on video ...then the wedding highlight videos came ..& I wanted one . I talked with my photographer and he is giving us a really good package deal on video , even though we will just be getting a highlight and 20 min video movie ..(enough in my opinion ) ...and instead of 2 full photographers..it's 1 1/2...the half will be the "2nd" video person as well ...hey it's one less vendor meal as well Smiley winking

I'm having one and I'm looking forward to it more than my photos. Everyone says the wedding day is such a rush. I want to be able to see things I likely won't see running around and getting ready. I am using a company called Mirar Productions... I found their vimeo page and bawled like a baby watching those videos! BEAUTIFUL!

    Here's a link to an example: http://vimeo.com/119140438

We've watched our wedding highlight video a lot so I'd recommend a highlight video package.

We are getting one. We already said we will watch it every year on our anniversary. A lot of people on his side can't make it due to cost so it would be nice to send his mom home with a video to share with those who missed it. We are getting a 90 minute video. I think it'll be nice to show our babies one day. We are paying about 1-1.5k for it but we got a discount cuz we are using their photographers and paying cash.
