Are you getting married where you grew up / the place you consider to be your hometown? If not, why did you choose the city/state/country where you're getting married? {Brit Perkins Photography}

My family moved away from the town where I mostly grew up, so we got married in my husband's hometown instead!!

Nope, it was the next city over from where we live.

I am! The venue I actually had no idea it existed! But it’s absolutely perfect it’s rustic and brick and wonderful! It wasn’t my intention to get married in my hometown but I guess it worked out for the best!!

I’m from northeast Ohio and my fiancé is from mid-Michigan, so we are aiming for a place right in between so it’s fair for both of our families to have the same driving distance!

Nope. FH and I are not from the same hometown (we grew up about an hour away from each other). We decided to get married in the town where I went to college. We started dating and a lot of our early memories as a couple are from this town. The town is super close to where FH grew up and not far from mine and we found the perfect venue so it just worked.

We are getting married in Brooklyn, less than 10 minutes away from our apartment. We both grew up in Atlanta but we've lived in New York for almost 6 years. Brooklyn feels more like home to us, and we're planning to have lots of help from local friends to offset the heftier price tag.

FH and I are getting married in the city that we met and currently are living (Washington, D.C.). FH's hometown is Pittsburgh, PA while mine is Sioux City, IA. Since our wedding guests are 85% OOT, D.C. was easiest to have the wedding as it made planning easier when you live in the same city your wedding is (to see venues and interview vendors) and D.C. is on most people's Bucket List to visit.

My home town is in Auckland, NZ, the other side of fhe world from where I love now. My parents live in Australia, so they would have to travel to my wedding where it be in NZ or here. I have lived in San Jose, Ca now for 13 years, met my FH here and a large part of his family are also here. So it makes sense to have the wedding here.

Nope. Our home is halfway between our birthplaces, so we're getting married in OUR new hometown

I grew up in LaGrangeville, NY but while I was in college (in Buffalo) my family moved ~2 hours north to Albany. My fiance, his family, and many of our friends are closer to Buffalo and that is where we met and have had our whole relationship unfold so it is where we decided to get married as well. I don't have much family in my original hometown or my family's current home in Albany, nor a church I feel connected with there. My childhood pastor is coming to Buffalo to do our ceremony which I am so grateful for. My mom is still not happy about the wedding being away from home, even though it's only 4.5 hours away- not destination or anything- and that has been really hard for us to work through.

FH and I are both 30 or 45 minutes north of actual midtown Atlanta but live about 10 minutes away now. We have a lot of OOT guests and it's a quick train ride from the airport to our venue in midtown. This was perfect and we love that our guests can hang out in our city with so much to do!

We're getting married in the city where my fiancé and I met and currently live. Our hometowns are on different sides of the country and we live at a great halfway point.

I’m getting married in my hometown, at the tiny little church where my dad pastored for 37 years!

We are getting married 2 hours away (with no traffic!) some family is even out of state. With that said, does anyone want to help me guesstimate what percentage out of the "locals" and out of staters might show up? I know it's a crapshoot.

My FH and I arent getting married in our hometowns. We picked a semi middle place of where our families are living. His family is mostly in San Diego and mine is in North LA County.

We're getting married in our current city, because it's close enough for his grandparents (who can't stay seated in a car for very long) to attend, even though I have the larger part of the guest list. It's not a long trip though from my hometown (a little over an hour). I wanted to get married in our college town, where we met, for many reasons. One of them being that it was around halfway between my family and his family, but unfortunately, it was still too far for his grandparents to attend. I have no regrets about our location though!

We are both from NYC but neither of us ever lived in Queens. So we are getting married in our home state...lol

My Hometown is Georgia, so we are definitely not getting married there. We wanted to be different and we wanted our wedding weekend to be like a weekend getaway vacation for all of our family members and friends. So we both chose Clearwater, Florida and we both fell in Love with the venue we chose.

I'll be getting married in my hometown, most of my family still lives there, so it just makes it really special.

Not exactly but not too far. My hometown only has one place to get married and my MOH got married there. We wanted to be a little different and the park type area is more our style.
