Are you filling your venue to capacity?

I think we are going to be in a pickle at our venue. It was brought to my attention over the weekend that we need to add yet another 4 people to the guest list. It seems like this list is growing each month by 2-4 people. Right now we can comfortably seat 128 guests - or elbow-to-elbow seat 160. I would really not like to seat 10 guests at a 5 foot round table - it is just too cramped when people are eating.

So, the question is should I talk with FH about chopping the guest list now or just "hope for the best" and hope we have enough declines to get us back to 128 people?

I could go up to about 90, but we don't want to invite more than 75. We will end up inviting a bit over, but since 75% of our guests live 2 states or more away, I would say that we should come in under, probably around 50.

Our venue has a 250 capacity, that I actually think is freaking crazy. I would never put that many people in there. Lol. Sardines anyone? Our contract states 150 or less, if we go over 150 (up to 250) we have to pay an extra like, $3(?) per guest. Our guest list with plus ones is 125 and we are expecting a lot of declines. We are estimating about 75 to actually show. Hoping. So we will be comfortable in the venue.

My venue will be set up with 10 tables. Original plan was 8 people each. As my guest list grew, we may have to consider 10 tables of 10. :-/ I hope that won't make people too squished: I hate the ever growing guest list.

Our venue (my avatar picture) says the capacity is 75, but we won't ever all be in the picnic area...that's just where the dessert will be. There's no DJ, music, announcements, etc. The ceremony is outside and there are TONS of picnic tables, so we won't be anywhere near capacity with our 160 invited, which we expect to end up around 120 if that.

Our venue can supposedly hold 230 but they admitted the true max capacity is really more like 200. We are inviting at least 220, maybe more, but are expecting some out of town family and friends to politely decline.

I invited about 105. My venue can fit 15 tables of 8, so 120 but I'm expecting less than 75 so I'll be setting up 12 tables of 6

Not even close! We had to pay for 100 meals (I have no idea how many the room could hold, but obviously at *least* that!), and we figured, since we'd counted 70, and everyone's list grows, we'd make it, no problem. Ha! Turns out our friends are even more geeky than we anticipated. Almost no one took us up on the plus-one, and my sister came with another guest. 8-/ So, in the end we had about 60 guests, the nice coordinator at the site suggested smaller tables so the room wouldn't look so empty, and we paid for the extra 40 meals.

Our venue can hold about 75. We are inviting 42. So far all are coming except two can only make the ceremony.

Our chapel holds 160 and our reception pavilion 200. We are inviting less than 160.

Chapel holds 200-300 (hows that for an estimate) and we will have about 50-60 people there.

My venue can hold 1000 people - there was no way we were filling that! The max we set was 250, our list is currently at 306. I'm hoping for a 50% decline rate!!

Our ceremony venue can hold 7-800, reception 4-500. We will probably invite about 350...no reason to fill space just to fill it!

The venue can accomodate 250, but have to pay for a minimum of 175. They're inviting a little over 200 so hopefully they'll meet the minimum.

We went to a wedding that was crammed that I was a bit overwhelmed, I was just a guest. We don't want that to happen. We are inviting the people we "must" invite-- family and very close friends. As the RSVPs happen, we will invite others to hopefully only reach 160-175(our max). Venue's max is 225.
