Are you booking a photographer for your honeymoon?

Nay, on April 15, 2014 at 3:37 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 39

A few months ago someone on here (I forget who), hired a photographer at her resort during her honeymoon and the pics were gorgeous. I've been playing around with the idea and still haven't called our resort in Aruba yet to see if that is a service they provide and if so, how much. I also haven't mentioned it to Hubby because his favorite line is "Book it", so I don't even want to fill his head with this idea until I have researched it further.

Has anyone booked or thinking of booking a photographer for your honeymoon? And if so, approx how much were you quoted or spent and where?

Edited to add: Not the ENTIRE trip. Just a photographer to do a photo session on the beach Smiley smile

I honestly never thought about it, and have never heard of anyone doing that outside of a destination wedding. I'm sure the pictures would be lovely in an exotic location.

I've never heard of this! Don't TEMPT ME! LOL.

The only thing we will have a photographer for is this day long activity that we're doing at Atlantis that will follow us around as we swim with dolphins, feed sharks, etc. It just comes in the package that we bought through Atlantis.

I've never heard of that either, but if it's not a destination wedding, I'd find it sort of creepy. I guess they wouldn't follow you around all week like what's in my head, but still.

I actually just found something through Google. Some of the resorts have photogs who are stationed in different areas of the resort, and if you go to the Photo Stand/area to pick up/purchase those photos, they sometimes have packages you can get. Apparently Atlantis does this and they have like a "sunset on the beach shoot," or whatever. I don't know what photographer though would let you hire them to just follow you around your entire honeymoon, but if you wanted a SPECIFIC picture form a photographer, they'd probably do that. People will do almost anything for money Smiley winking

I know a lot of the Sandals resorts (and I'm sure others do) offer a "photo session". I think they are only 20-30 minutes long and are "free", but then you can buy the photos. Kind of a nice way to get some fun pics on the beach.

Uh.. I wouldn't want a photographer on my honeymoon... and personally I find it strange. To me a honeymoon is getting to spend some alone time with your new husband/wife in a beautiful/fun/different location. I wouldn't want someone following us around taking pictures. I want to capture the pictues myself with our cameras.

D&J - I never thought about either until I saw someone on here do it. WW can be a dangerous, dangerous place. lol

rusticbride - Oops. Didn't mean to tempt you. lol

Amanda-Kiora - Not for the entire trip. Just a photo shoot on the beach. Like a few hours. Not like a reality show. lol

I never would have thought about that but I know that the resort we're going to offers a "free" honeymoon photo session. I just might twist FH's arm into that one just to get a few good NON-SELFIE photos of ourselves on our honeymoon. We'll just pay for one or two prints.

Julia Beth, I agree. A Honeymoon has lots of memories too.. and a lot can't be properly documented if you have to be taking selfies, haha! I would totally do a short shoot on the beach or something while we're on our Honeymoon! SUE ME Smiley tongue

I've never thought about this either! But I don't think I would want a photographer on the honeymoon either. After all the wedding planning, honeymoon planning, and at that point for us, me finishing a master's thesis, we want to just relax and not worry about a THING! No more! Haha oooh I can't wait!

That being said, if it's something you want to do, you should look into it! Maybe just a photo shoot and not someone following you around all day.

I never heard of this but then in one post Happy in Hawaii posted pictures she did and said if anyone is honeymooning in Hawaii to let her know if they wanted to set up a shoot to give her mor experience... I was very tempted but I don't think FH would go for it. He was pleasantly suprised at the fun he had with our engagement shoot but he's still not a huge fan of pictures.

Hey those pictures at Atlantis are EXPENSIVE just so you know. But I tell you, my son and I did the dolphin swim while on our Disney cruise there and I was willing to pay whatever for those pictures. They are priceless to me. I have one on my desk right now.

I'm not talking about the entire trip. Just a photo session. Maybe I need to edit the post so that it's clearer. lol

I remember seeing these when they were posted and they were amazing. I would do it in a heart beat if we had the funds.

I had a friend who did this on her honeymoon in Jamaica a few years ago, I'm assuming through the resort. I had forgotten about it until now, but I remember thinking that they were just the cutest pictures! Different from any they could have taken on their own, and really made me want to be in Jamaica haha. I kind of love the idea!

I also saw the post Nay and loved it. IDK if our resort in Riviera Maya does this but it would make for beautiful photos!

Nay, you have me looking through Google and even contacting local photog's for like a MINI-SHOOT at the Atlantis, haha. I'm just curious to know if they do stuff like that and then of course, HOW much. I'm sure it will INSANE.

ETA: Of course, I'll have my own camera but it's so hard to get good pictures on trips because you never know if the stranger you ask to take a pic is ANY GOOD AT IT, haha!

No. I just plan on buying a nice, new DSLR camera for our trip.

Kind of. In Lake Tahoe, there is this photo tour where you pair up with a professional photographer, and they take pictures of you in front of beautiful landscapes all day. It was the first thing we booked!

Here's an example photo of a couple not too long ago. It looks fake because it's so beautiful!

Here's the link to the place in case anyone else is going to Tahoe!

    http://tahoephotographictours.com/tahoe-tours/

The tour we booked was only $200 per person and they drive you around for 7-8 hours and take photos of you in different locations! Can't wait!
