Are you able to see your wedding cake before the wedding?

Sherraine, on November 27, 2020 at 3:46 AM Posted in Planning 0 15

I just booked my wedding cake vendor. however i am a perfectionist on this matter and im nervous about the design. i think the decorator captured my vision but im still nervous about the end result

is it rude to want to see the cake they day before the wedding or can i request it?

did you guys see the finished product of your cake before your wedding?

I'm not aware of that being an option... we did not see our cake until the day of, and just had to trust that they understood our vision.

You can ask... but then realize, your cake will be done and sitting around for a whole day before it's served...

You can always ask if they'll send you a picture once it's finished!

A lot of times the assemble and put finishing touches on the cake at the venue so I don’t know if seeing it the day before is an option.

Most bakers aren't going to have the cake 100% finished before the wedding day, since you obviously want it as fresh as possible and that would compromise the taste and integrity of the cake. It doesn't hurt to ask as long as you're fine with your cake sitting around for at least an entire day before it's served.

Never heard of a baker doing this. It’s not assembled until it gets to the venue. Agree with the others, you definitely want your cake to be as fresh as possible. I would reach out to them to see what your options are.

I doubt they will. I get being a perfectionist but for someone that used to decorate cakes I did it the day of closer to the time of the event. At best you can ask for a picture but here is the reality, if you do not like it, it is too late to change it, at least without you being charged more money but doubt they would have time. I would say you chose the person because you trust their skill and if your cake does not come out perfect the day of, only you will notice. I say of all things to stress of (and there will be plenty) do not let it be the cake. I will say be communicative as possible as to what you want. I wanted my cake to have a semi naked look but to look nice and crisp and clean and my place did exactly what I wanted.

It’s pretty unlikely that they will be able and willing to accommodate this.

I don't think that would be possible since you'd want your cake to be fresh and bakers usually finish decorating the day of.

I agree with this! I went with someone that work was consistently good no matter what the projects was.

Yuppers because we hear horror stories and I did not want to worry about any my vendors the day of. There is enough to be stressed about.

I didn’t see the finished product before but I had them make it look exactly like the model one they had on display
