Are wedding rings and wedding bands the same thing?

I use both terms interchangeably and Etsy listings usually put both "band" and "ring" in their descriptions 🤷🏼‍♀️ To me a wedding band is plain and I usually use it to describe a groom's ring or something in a similar style. A ring to me usually has a little more glam to it? I don't know 😂
