Are Wedding Programs a Must?

Kayla, on July 26, 2019 at 4:43 PM Posted in Wedding Ceremony 0 47
Do you really have to have these still, or is this one of those "nice" things to have? Any way to cut costs here?

I didn't have them. I usually only see them at church weddings and even then, not always. If it doesn't matter to you, definitely save the money!

We're cutting programs as well. We felt they were a frivolous cost.

Cut them. Save your money! It’s not like anyone is going to save them!

Definitely a way to cut costs. I'd keep them if your ceremony is long and elaborate. Otherwise, don't worry.

We will likely not have a program. If anything, we will print a large program placed on an easel when guests walk in to the ceremony.

These are not needed at all in my opinion! You could definitely cut costs here. To me, this actually seems like a waste of money because people will only look at them once or twice and then leave them at their seat at the ceremony or just throw them away.

Not necessary, but I've seen these cute infographic ones and kinda am debating on purchasing....

I made a cute ceremony booklet for our guests because it was a Ukrainian Catholic ceremony. It gave people an idea of what the heck was happening! It was also nice they worked as "fans" of sorts because they turned on the ac too late for it to cool down the church and it was warm! They also only cost me about $50 to make them all.

But they aren't really too necessary. I've seen people make a posterboard of the program and use it as a welcome sign too

We are skipping them. Unless your wedding is super unique and has something unexpected, I don't see the point.

We're skipping the programs too. They're definitely not required!

Unless you’re super old school or religious or just have the money to spend it’s a waste of money! They will probably get thrown out by 75% of your guests, now a days most people have a wedding website that they share on the invite which lets you have a ton of details about your wedding and the ability to RSVP online. I know we aren’t doing them and my venue includes menu and place cards. I’m also not doing the traditional RSVP. I will have my phone number and wedding website available for RSVP and for people I feel I need to make clear that the seats are for CERTAIN plus ones, I will include a note card that will say there is 4 seats held for ... and write down each persons name. There isn’t a lot of people I need to do that for, just certain people who may try to bring certain family in law who isn’t allowed and for families of 4 so they know they are all invited. Sending out RSVP cards can be expensive because your supposed to pay for the stamp for them to send you back the card! Although some of those methods are very modern, I’m on a budget and have to decide where to spend and where to cut back and by eliminating the program and RSVP cards and my venue including menus, place cards and hotel accommodation/direction cards, it saves me almost like 200$ because programs, fancy place cards, RSVP, and menus can be almost 50 cents to a 1$ per person/per stationary and those are things people except maybe family aren’t going to keep as a keepsake! Just something to think about if you have a tight budget!

Yeah if you have the extra money, you can provide them, but they are really not necessary. Guests will pretty much see the wedding and will kinda get the jist of the flow of things.

I’ve only ever seen them at church weddings. I wish I could cut them out and save some money, but we are going for a traditional wedding and my FMIL is very excited about them lol

You absolutely can cut them out to eliminate that cost all together! Honestly, it's up to you whether or not you just really want them but I doubt most guests will be looking for them.
If you're dead-set on having them or a few for photographs, check out Basic Invite. You can fully customize them and they're high in quality but very affordable. I have a code for 20% off if you're interested )
