Are programs worth it?

Bridget, on January 9, 2018 at 12:44 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 61
This may be an unpopular opinion, but are programs really worth it for the wedding? Seems like they end up in the recycle by the end of the night. Debating on scrapping them.

Unless your ceremony is strange or overly complex for religious reasons or otherwise, scrap ‘em.

I am undecided. I don't want traditional ones, but I found some really creative infographic ones on Etsy and might consider those! Smiley smile

Not necessary and won't be missed.

I've been to very few weddings with programs and they mostly get left behind to be thrown out.

    You don't need them.

Wow! Didn't think of no programs. But I like the thought. I will have a very small wedding party no flower girl, no ring bearer, only moh and matron of honor, 2 bestmen. So scraping the program would be ideal since I don't have a clue how to create one anyway. Thanks.... one less thing to do!

They aren't necessary. We also scratched them from our list too. One less expense we don't have to worry about.

It is totally up to you. I had them but definitely didn't need them. I think the older guests appreciated them, and now I have them for a keepsake. I'm happy I had them. I matched them to my table numbers and I think it helped with the overall theme and decor.

Totally not needed, but I'm doing them anyway. DIY hand fans, with program printed right on them. They're not costing me much, and as a theatre buff, I know I always like to have something to read while I'm waiting.

I’m not doing them. Waste of time, paper, money.

I'm doing my own, mainly bc I had a ton of cardstock left over after I made several paper flowers. Otherwise I wouldn't do them. If you don't want it, don't do it.

I was on the fence about doing them but ultimately decided it was a nice way to call out our BP, officiant, and parents. I think our parents and older relatives will appreciate them more than anything else, but it’ll be a nice keepsake to add to the wedding album.
    They’re definitely not needed, though.

I personally like them but more on the unique side - at my cousins wedding they did fan programs and it was so nice because the ceremony was outdoors and it was in the summer - so they doubled as being useful. I probably won’t have them for my ceremony but I’ve been thinking of doing a newspaper at the reception that includes everyones names, fun facts about us, menu, etc.

I forgot to add this to my post! I also really like the idea of a sign when people walk in to the ceremony...

We aren't getting programs. Our ceremony will be very straight forward and only lasting like 15 -20 minutes. Not wasting money on programs for that.

I printed my own, very simple, programs because we had a traditional Jewish wedding, and my side of the family had never been to one. I heard a lot of feedback from people who appreciated it. However I don’t remember the last wedding I went to that had programs. If you think your guests will NEED them to follow along then do them. If not, then it would be a waste of money. We kept one, each of our parents kept one, and I’m sure the rest are in the garbage.

Probably the best idea I've heard re: programs. Dang, a hand fan?? That's creative AF. Otherwise, I find them to be somewhat wasteful, as most people don't keep them... Save the trees!!!

I think programs are only useful if you are having a religious ceremony that a majority of the guests are unfamiliar with.
