Are Long Island weddings ever affordable?

Adri.Reilly, on January 15, 2016 at 10:42 AM Posted in Planning 0 10

My fiancé and I just bought a small house and are now trying to plan our wedding. We both have big family's so we will end up inviting about 100 people. We have a super tight budget but we can't find a venue anywhere for less than 10,000$ that is remotely nice. Any ideas on how we can stay on budget and still have a tasteful wedding on Long Island?

It's going to be tough, but you are way off season, so that might help.

I'd suggest checking out my friend and colleage Marie April, from Church of Ancient Ways. She is here and if you google LI officiant, you'll find her in a heartbeat. She is preferred clergy at many venues, and her website has loads of them listed.

The closest I've gotten to Long Island is the Swan Club, which is lovely, but I have no idea of pricing.

I'd maybe check out women's clubs (I've been in the Westchester Women's Club, and it's really pretty) but this area is really high.......

Have you looked at the Riviera at Massapequa? During peak months, they have a 120 person minimum, which is why my fiancé and I decided against it. However, since you have a January wedding, they will likely be able to work with your guest count! The ballroom was BEAUTIFUL. It has a high lofted ceiling that almost looks like a barn that is way too classy to be a barn. I was really pleasantly surprised when I visited. I hope you find something that works for you!

ETA: their ballroom was renovated very recently, so everything looks brand new and fresh. Smiley smile

    Hi and congratulations!

Smithtown Landing CC, The Mansion at West Sayville, East Wind Cottage & Miller Beach Surf Club are all great venues and all have packages around your price range. There are links to all of those venues on my web site.

It takes more planning, but if you wanted to think outside the box, the Brush Barn in Smithtown and the Bates House in Setauket are great and as Town Properties they are VERY reasonably priced. You can bring in your own food and alcohol or hire a caterer.

Good luck in your search. I'm sure the perfect place at the right price is out there!

I'm not sure what you think of the Milleridge Inn, but the Cottage has a covered glass atrium that is a beautiful ceremony location with an adjoining ballroom. They have a 100 person minimum, which is the only reason why my FH and I decided to keep looking (we only have 90 people). Also, we never wound up looking at Seacliff Manor and the Miller Beach Surf Club, but I remembered thinking that they would be great for my budget! I will go ahead and give you links to all of these places that I mentioned. Best of luck, and congratulations on this exciting time in your life!!!!

When are you planning to get married? looks like January 2017. Im getting married next month in Floral Terrace. Its off season and it will be between 1-6pm they told us it would be 81 a person so for your 100 guests it would only be 8100. Only tricky thing is that you MUST have at least 100 guests as minimum. They include, open bar, cocktail hour with food, regular sit down dinner, The ballroom is absolutely gorgeous. Kids are half price if you hit the 100 guest minimum. They even include the cake from the bakery next door, valet parking, and coat check are included. You have your own bridal suite and the place is yours for the 5-6 hours they never double book the place is literally yours. They've been nothing but friendly to me and my Future Husband I suggest you check them out, They are located in Floral Park. The food they offer during cocktail hour is a lot and they even throw in a ice sculpture and a champagne and strawberry greeting. You can even have the ceremony there if you aren't getting married in church.

P.S That photo is the ballroom after it was recently renovated with marble flooring.

I live on LI, but I'm not getting married here.. but some general advice anyway. So one thing I found to be helpful was that I was able to save money buy picking a venue that didn't come with a caterer. The venue cost plus the cost of the caterer I choice was less than I would be paying at the venues that don't allow you to bring in a caterer. Not sure how it is on LI but just figured I would bring up the idea.

I'm a Long Island Officiant. There are some places where you can bring in your caterer and music, etc. One is The Bayard Cutting Arboretum and the other is Seatuck. Can be very reasonable.
