Are Cricut's hard to use??

Jolie, on May 21, 2019 at 8:43 AM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 5

I haven't thought anything of it because I was just gonna order vinyls I needed from etsy and a local printing shop but I found out FMIL has one!! I have heard they're difficult to use. What supplies would I need?

They arent hard to use but expect to make a few mistakes while starting out. You would need vinyl and whatever you are putting it on. Transfer paper, weeding tool, possibly something to seal such as mod podge.

There was definitely some trial and error with positioning when I addressed my STDs but that was probably my biggest struggle. YouTube was a godsend for other tips and tricks, like getting everything to stay aligned when you have multiple objects (word boxes in my case). Getting some of the small detail off the mats (like the dots over the i's) was also kind of a pain in the rear when I was using smaller type. Outside of that, I have loved every bit of owning one.

I am using my friend's cricut for wedding stuff - like PP said definitely a little learning curve when you first start but now I've got it down and only made a couple mistakes! If you're only using it for simple vinyl stuff then I would say go for it! You'd need to order the vinyl color you want, transfer tape. Hopefully your FMIL will have the weeding tools and the cutting mat - but they are cheap on amazon even if you do have to order them.

Yeah I’ll have to ask her if the mat and tools came with it. She got it from someone. So I’ll have to see! I definitely want it for just words for signage. Is the computer program difficult to use to create the words?

Yes I read that wood was difficult for it to stick to if it wasn’t sanded and potentially stained/sealed.
