ARE BUSTLES SUPPOSE TO LOOK THIS AWKWARD?? *UPDATE*

I have searched all over Google looking for a fit & flare bustled gown that doesn't look weird. I've just had my alterations appointment with a very talented and seasoned seamstress, I have complete confidence in her skills. However, is it just me or the look of bustles are just plain ugly? *UPDATE*...

*UPDATE*

I picked up my gown yesterday & the bustle looks amazing, still on the awkward side but not nearly as ugly as I initially thought. I have a very talented seamstress! The lesson is bustles are weird but necessary. Hope this helps anyone in my position.

@ Nichole...LOL "date twin"? that's cute. From what I've seen, bustles look better and less silly on a-line gowns. You might want to got with the American style over the French.

I like French bustles on fit and flare gowns. They don't look like something is stuck in your butt at all.

Well I think your bustle looks good but I'm so glad you posted this because I felt the same way after I went to get my alterations done last week. All the options she tried for bustles looked so weird and I considered buying a new dress. I think I will try to keep it down more often than not on the day because it looks better down.

I want to cry. My seamstress didn't listen to me and bustled my dress really awkwardly and also too short. The front of the dress is now three inches too short so I cannot wear any type of heel, and the back when bustled is shorter than the front. Please, someone, tell me this is okay because I don't think she can/will fix it. Also, are white hooks the norm, I see a lot of brides with buttons.

Because the latest previous post is almost 10 years old, you will get more responses by creating a brand new separate post.

That said, if you are not happy with what you were given, look for a different seamstress if your current one is not willing or able to listen to your needs and wants.
