April wedding postponed to August due to virus

Samantha, on March 31, 2020 at 11:32 AM Posted in Community Conversations 0 6
So FH and I made the decision to postpone our April 25th wedding to August 15th. As heartbreaking as it is, I am feeling relieved and less stressed. I pray the virus will be slowed down by then.
But we bought a lot of our stuff that has the April 25th date on it, is anyone buying new stuff or just keeping their things with your original date??

I’m also praying that the virus is better contained by August (that’s our postponement deadline). Our wedding is in October and I’d much prefer to roll with our plans instead of going with our Plan B or Plan C. But if we have to 🤷🏽‍♀️... we will. The main thing is that we get married. We can celebrate with guests later (everyone will understand).

Honestly I wouldn’t worry about the date on anything you’ve already purchased. It’s part of “your story” and your guests know what happened. Hopefully this is all much better and you can move forward with your wedding.

What a wonderful way of looking at it. “Part of your story”! That’s a great way to look at it. See the rainbow, not the rain.

Hey date sister. We bought so much stuff with our April 25,2020 date. Vow Books, gifts, signs, favors, and so much paper goods. We are planning on not replacing any of it. To us our wedding date is April 25, 2020; regardless of when it legally takes place. Our new date is September 26,2020

    Hi Samantha,

I'm sorry that you've had to postpone your wedding, but I'm glad you're feeling relieved. Wedding planning under normal circumstances can be stressful at times--and the current situation is far from normal. You are definitely not alone!

There are several ongoing conversations re: what to do with your dated decor items on the WeddingWire forums. The overall vibe is that your original date is part of your story.

    - Re-purchasing items with dates after postponing wedding

    - What to do with wedding decor with different date?

    - What to do about dated favors

Hope this helps! I'm wishing you the best of luck with your August wedding! Smiley heart
