Appetizers and Food Menu....

Emily, on March 27, 2021 at 11:53 AM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 8
During cocktail hour I was planning on just having meatballs and a charcuterie board. Will this be enough? Cocktail hour will be from 3:30-4:30.
For “dinner” which will be at 4:30 will be a buffet style cooked by friends.

Is this enough variety?

This probably depends on how many guests. It may be OK if it's an intimate or backyard wedding.

It should be, our only appetizers are going to be bruschetta and a fig crostini. Our dinner will also be buffet style so people can eat as much as they want - just make sure you won't run out of food

    AGREE with this.

But it's not enough for a 100+ guest count

The selection has nothing to do with your guest count. That menu is perfectly fine for 100+ people. Many catering menus online offer less selection than that regardless of formality or size.

Do you have vegan/vegetarian guests? If they wouldn't be able to eat much...and nothing from your cocktail hour. Consult with your caterer about adding a non meat/dairy appetizer and side dishes such as a veggie/hummus display or veggie spring rolls along with a vegetarian option.

If they have all food types covered..they are missing vegetarian/vegan options so maybe they don't have any vegetarian guests..what is your reasoning that the caterer can't feed 100+?

What is offered is very generous for a plated or buffet (can't tell from the description which they chose). Choice of 2 meats plus 4 sides and rolls is more food than most caterers offer for any size group. The 2 meat only appetizers will leave any vegetarians hungry though.

. I've never said a caterer couldn't feed 100+, I was talking about the cocktail hour, because she was planning on having meatballs and a charcuterie board, I think she should add at least one vegetarian option.

I wasn't aswering not about the dinner. I should have mentioned it. My bad!

Yes people will definitely be hungry during the cocktail hour with alcohol flowing..making for drunk guests. Add a least more appetizers..fruit/veggies/hummus, chips and dip, a couple non beef passed apps. Mini quiches, spanakopita, tea sandwiches, anything.

I would have more options during cocktail hour. You want to make sure that you have enough food so that people aren't drinking a whole bunch and are drunk by the time your reception starts. I would recommend having a veggie or fruit plater especially if you have anyone that is a vegetarian/vegan.
