Anyone using myregistry.com?

Danielle , on March 30, 2015 at 6:22 PM Posted in Planning 0 20

So after making like 4 registries in the store at Macys, Target, Anthropologie, and BedBath&Beyond, I found it kinda crazy to put all those stores on my invites. I found out about myregistry from my girlfriend that used it for her baby shower. She loved it and told me I could link up all of my store registries on there, so I went for it! It's still early to say how it's going, I mean it was easy to set up. We even added a cash gift option for our friends to help out with our honeymoon. I really like it so far, I like how I can personalize it and add our picture. So what I want to know is, have any of you used myregistry.com? How did it go?

I'm using it, and it seems fine so far. We did not put cash options - it links to our Macy's registry and has some gift card options for Lowe's and Home Depot. We didn't really need anything, and actually have specified no gifts, but quite a few people have asked, so we threw it together really quickly...no one has had an issue with it so far.

No opinion on 'myregistry', but just wanted to point out that you shouldn't be adding registry information to your invites in any case. It's considered impolite to mention gifts on the invite, it's like listing the gift as the price of admission to your wedding. Add the myregistry link to your wedding website, if you have one, and let your parents and bridal party know where you are registered, they can help spread the word when people ask.

Using it to create a small lingerie registry for my bridal shower. It hasn't been used yet but setting it up was a breeze and it has great reviews. I'm excited!

    Thanks everyone for your input!

@Doublej079- Yea, us too! Since we have been living together for a while, we have most of the essentials. We added things that would be useful but haven't had a chance to splurge on. Like a really nice coffee maker and a KitchinAid mixer that I have been dying for!

@Sara- We added the link to our registry on our wedding site also. I know there is always a half and half of brides that think yes to a registry or no to a registry and how to get the word out. I am the type that will let you know that the registry items are not mandatory, but if you would like to get us something... here is the link. We added our wedding site link to our save the dates, and will probably have the link to myregistry.com on the shower invites for sure.

@erica and brian: I didn't think of that! I might add another registry to my account and use it as a lingerie registry and add some other cute things! Thanks for the idea!!

I have one. It also keep track of the people who purchase gifts for you. I thought that would make it easier to give thank you cards out.

Danielle, I have to agree with Sara. You may have guests that are taken aback by registry information included on the invitation. Registry information is extremely easy to find, so if a guest is planning to buy you a gift from your registry they will be able to find it or they will directly ask you.

Also, many people feel that asking for money through cash funds/ honeymoon funds is not good etiquette-- just a heads up.

I am using mygiftlist.com. It is probably the same thing. I added things from specific sites using links, generic things with no suggestion of where to purchase, and even charity links. It is very simple (and looks that way too), but I don't need a pretty looking registry. Sorry if others are offended by including registry info on information cards with other tips, but my guests don't seem offended. My future mother-in-law kept asking where I was registered, because people kept asking her.

Thanks for posting about this! I had never heard of myregistry.com, but I've now just signed up for it. We've already lived together in our house for over a year and a half and, by our wedding, we will have lived there for 3 years, so anything else we want/need is scattered across many different stores. This is awesome for combining it all in one easy place for people to go, and so far has been really easy to use. Thanks again!

Yup. We're using it for some odds and ends on websites that don't have gift registries (lightbulbs, and some other Home Depot type stuff).

We're also using MyRegistry for the same reason as Dr. MtnBride. We wanted to keep it to two registries and wanted lots of random things from various stores, CutCo knives, tools, a few brands not sold at BBB.

I am using because I wanted to add a couple random Amazon items to my registry on top of Macy's and Target. The only note I will make is that the plugin to your website is not responsive. So it looks awful on mobile devices. But that is probably just the developer in me being bratty. I really want spend some time to create a custom plugin that will resize with my website, but I just don't have the time.

@Sarah, I looked to see if mygiftlist.com was the same as myregistry.com, but it isn’t. On mygiftlist you are only putting links to things that you might want, but myregistry also lets you do that, but more important you can put your store registries together on one list, and then you can take advantage of all of the cool free gifts and completion discounts from the department stores. So, like I opened a registry at target, and added the whole registry to my myregistry account. Now after my wedding I am going to get 15% off on any target things that people didn’t get for me but I still want. So you get better benefits to keep a bunch of stores together than you do with links, which won’t get you any benefits. --- I am a bargain shopper all the way!!!

Do completion discounts expire?? Or does that depend on the store?

We are registered at Crate & Barrel and are using MyRegistry.com for everything else + syncing our C&B registry. Its really nice to not be confined to one or two stores, and I love how easy it is to add things from Etsy or amazon.com, etc. Our guests haven't seemed to have an issue, and we weren't really concerned about completion discounts. The slight negative is that things aren't automatically categorized when you add them-you have to do this manually. I've loved it so far though!

BBB is our main registry, but we're using myregistry.com for some items that aren't available at BBB. We only have 13 items on myregistry.com. But we're still putting it on our website. Smiley smile

We are using myregistry.com as well and I love it! I was in a similar situation as you, I wanted a few things from a couple different stores, and it just gets to be too confusing and too much work to keep track of all the different stores and gifts at each one. I love the simplicity and convenience of myregistry.

@Aleeza - Thanks for the feedback about the categories! I have just tried to manually reorganize the registry. But I guess putting them into categories would be much easier!

@J B - What website did you use? I started ours on wix because I saw that you could upload your list from myregistry.com onto it. I head of loverly but thought wix would make it more personalized

@Jen and Dan - Thanks for sharing!
