Anyone sick of people asking them how they’re feeling about their wedding? (vent)

Trina, on August 22, 2019 at 12:05 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 17
My wedding is 2 days away, and I am really on edge these days (as you can imagine). I am so SO sick of people asking me “how I’m doing”. How do you think I’m doing!? I’m frustrated, on the verge of tears every few hours, anxious, and stressed as can be! I understand these people are just excited for me, but to be honest, I’m not at all excited right now. I’m annoyed with all the questions and so, so stressed!
How can I politely answer them? I’ve noticed myself getting a little snappy, and I’m really not trying to be rude - but it’s just all so exhausting. Please help Smiley sad

Tell them you’re well then redirect the conversation. Or if you want to vent to them, tell them you’re stressed out and why, maybe it’ll help you feel better.

*long exasperated awkward laughter* followed by “I’ll be better when it’s all said and done!”

Y’know I’ve managed to shut down this conversation by just being really blunt with how I feel. “Stressed” is how I feel. People want to talk about your wedding when you’re excited, not unhappy.

I’m the opposite. People don’t get much of a reaction when asking about my wedding. I’ve just made it a point to not stress over anything and to simply not do something if it does. However, in general I don’t stress over much so most people find my lack of enthusiasm entertaining. Just tell people you’re busy trying not to forget anything and are looking forward to the big day. And if talking to people right now it too much, stop answering the phone or answering texts, and go into bride hibernation. It’s two days before your big day, you deserve it!

From the sounds of it, I think you need a YOU day. Once in a great great while I will take a day to myself (turn my phone off or on silent and just relax). No planning, no cleaning (unless it helps releave stress), take yourself out to eat, just do you

Say, "You know how it is," then change the subject

Haha - exactly. I get a lot of "how's the wedding planning going!?", which I answer with *long inhale* "it's going...haha...just lots of little things..."

I agree with you! I think I will do that the week of my wedding... because I am one of those people that love taking "ME" breaks from the world. Its very helpful and it helps you focus better without all of the annoying questions every 10 minutes!

Try to let their excitement get you excited. Planning is almost over!!! You might miss this excitement once it’s all said and done.

I get it! We are date twins, and i’m not feeling horribly stressed about wedding things. I AM feeling stressed that I still have to get some things done while still fulfilling all of my normal daily life responsibilities. It’s exhausting! And I don’t have nearly enough time to get it all done and still sleep a decent amount! People keep asking if I’m excited (DUHHHHH), nervous (nah not really), or how I’m feeling in general (fine, just busy and have a lot to do so stop talking to me and let me get it done). It’s just repetitive. I’ve actually enjoyed planning but I’m still stressed just due to complete lack of time and very little to no help.... take some deep breaths and just blow them off!

Exactly what I am going through! I’ve done majority of the planning myself, and I still have some packing left to do for my honeymoon (I leave the day after). I’m getting some help now from the bridesmaids, but I’m tired of everyone just being in my face all the time with questions. I wish I could take a “me day” today, but with the wedding being tomorrow, I absolutely cannot slow down now...I still have to steam my dress and veil Smiley sad I’m ready for it to be over.

I get it girly! It’s just a ton of work! I also have three kids and they started school TODAY, which is just perfect timing 🙄 ugh! Today is the first day I’m going to have any help with anything. I chose a lot of DIY stuff and I have literally done it all entirely by myself... I’m excited, but I’m also sick of people asking constantly how I feel. I’m fine, leave me alone lol. I barely like people on a good day 😂😬

I feel you. I’m 29 days away and as we are following up with everyone for RSVPS they are all asking about the excitement. I’m like I would be more excited and less stressed if I didn’t have to hunt you down to see if you are coming. And I’m also ready to be done with everything and just get married already. Day after will be so relaxing

I would do what a co-worker did when she was pregnant and got a ton of questions: be bluntly honest lol.

Everyone kept asking her about the baby so she decided to be very honest in her answers. "How's the baby feeling?" "He's having fun in there. Yeah, this morning he kicked my bladder so hard I nearly peed myself on the drive over here". Smiley xd Smiley xd Smiley xd

I try not to let it bother me too much because I know they mean well. I try to change the subject if I really feel stressed over planning. I don't like when the only thing people talk to me about is wedding planning. I have a life outside of wedding planning!

I'm actually having the opposite issue. No one has asked how I'm feeling about the wedding, how the planning is going or if I need any help. It's been very disheartening to say the least. I've had no emotional support besides my poor fiance. Take comfort in someone caring enough to ask, the fact that they're thinking of you should make you smile.
