No you are not. Remember you have to live before and after the wedding. You don't want to be "wedding poor " as my mom would say.

Nope, it all depends on what you find most important to you, I have been to many weddings in my family that have been "small" and beautiful

We are planning a super cheap wedding because we value the marriage more than the fluff...that and we're pretty low on the income scale Smiley tongue What we decided to do was keep the guest list super small (out of 61 invited, only approx. 40 may make it, if that) so we can spend more on mementos, like invitations (we only need 20!) and favors. So don't look at it as being super cheap, look at it as making memories the good ol' fashioned way Smiley smile

Also, I agree with the above comments: you want a life after the wedding, not one that revolves around only one day Smiley smile

So far I've spent $300 all together. I've got my dress. The venues. Our rings. And Save The Dates. I got a brand new dress off eBay. And Save The Dates I designed and printed myself.

When it is all said and done I will have spent $2,993.00. You can totally do it and there is no shame in it. Having a budget allows for mishaps or accidents along the way. I had to bust into the wedding savings for tires Smiley sad This is ok, it allows life to be life. Good luck and look forward to hearing more about your wedding plans.

You can do it and remember there are always people who know people. Don't be afraid to ask people for help. You will be surprised who your friends are or who knows whom. Good luck.

I have my budget set and I'm only planning on spending $2600 total with my dress and the venue and everything. I'm making all the decorations myself and my FH's parents have offered to pay for the catering since we are not have a rehearsal dinner (or they were going to pay for that if we were going to have that). I'm sticking to my budget as we each have a kid from a previous relationship to support along with rent and normal bills.

I would much rather have the wedding I can afford than go into debt over it.

We're trying to stay in the $2-3k range - the lower the better. So you're not alone!

We're inviting about 70 people total (most will probably come because it's all family, we have maybe 15-20 friends we're close enough to want to invite), since most of those are families we won't need many invitations, I do design so I'm making all that stuff...I don't care about flowers so I'm making those out of paper and tulle, my FILs are letting us use their yard for the reception and since it's an afternoon wedding we plan on just getting a bunch of sandwich trays and etc. for food. We're also not doing dancing since neither of us enjoy that, instead we're going to have lots of boardgames available.

We also aren't planning on hiring a photographer, which I know a lot of people insist is the most important thing ever. I hate posed photos though, and I'm more interested in the candid shots people will get. There are a lot of amazing photographers among our friends and families so we'll get plenty of good pics either way.

Good luck! Sticking to a small budget like this is work, but it's definitely doable!

Afternoon wedding with champagne appetizers and a walking violinist at the reception, no tables, cake and everyone loves it. http://forums.theknot.com/discussion/1004446/a-budget-wedding-story-parisian-style

That is totally doable. Im going to have a cheap wedding too. I'm doing the invitations myself to attempt to save money. For the RSVP they will be postcard sized to save money on postage

Mine is roughly 3,000. Keeping it simple. What matters most is the marriage. We are not over the top. Ordering flowers from sams..rehearsal ..reception and wedding at same place..i know a caterer ..i know a photographer. Sound sysyem for music. No grooms cake. Wedding cake paid for by aunt. . Making a few decorations... hope that's helpful.!

We had the $2500.00 budget wedding in mind also, until we found out the place we were having the wedding had an underground stream, so regardless... if it rained tent or no tents, there was gonna be a mess. We actually found a great venue in Morganton Ga, for 2500.00 Yes it blew my budget plans to hell, however... it had my mountain views that I wanted and it is rustic enough to where little to no decor is really needed. and the things I did buy... dollar tree, Wally world, eBay and easy. A girl on a budgets best friends. I still of course spent a good 1000.00 or a lil more, but nothing like I would have if I bought from bridal shops. I did pay for my brothers wedding though and spent a whopping 300.00 at the most and it was very beautiful. So being a bride on a budget is awesome cause now I will have more money for things I don't have to share.: -) happy planning.!
