As a solitaire, mine was plainer than I initially wanted (which I was happy about because i was so afraid he would pick out something elaborate that i would hate). Initially we planned on switching it out but now its grown on me. We still might but for now I'm happy Smiley smile

I love mine, but I also picked it out.

I had a coworker who told me about her ring from her first marriage. She had showed it to her then-boyfriend saying "look hideous this ring is". And basically all he remembered was that she pointed out the ring to him at some point, sooo that was the ring he got her.

I was afraid I'd get one I didn't like but his sister actually took me to the mall to go Christmas shopping three days prior and we usually browse the jewelry store anyways and I got one of the two rings I was absolutely in love with . Did you drop hints ? Let's see your ring !

I'm a pretty picky person so my FH actually proposed to me with my wedding shoes without the ering lol. He knew I had specific store in mind and I needed to see how the rings will look on me. We went and tried on several selections and I picked my top choices. My FH picked his favorite out of them so it was a win win for us.

I had a friend that didn't like the ring given to her. She ended up going with her fiancée to exchange it for one they both liked. Better to let him know than to lie about it.

One of my friends hated her ring and so she ended up getting a whole new setting on her FH's tab.

I have an emerald cut, and I initially wondered if I didn't really want something more sparkly. But when I thought seriously about replacing it, I started tearing up. I realized that I really do love it, and I adore it more every day.

I went to the jeweler and picked out two favorites. Had no idea which FH was going to pick, which made it a fun surprise when he proposed.

I love mine! The first time (and only) time we went looking at rings he took me to Tiffany. I fell in love with the classic solitaire. He found an almost identical ring that didn't cost a year of mortgage payments.

I got an heirloom ring. It's beautiful and I love the sentiment of it, but I never would've picked it out in a million years for myself. It's yellow gold and has marquise diamonds on it. I hate yellow gold and I really hate marquise. Lol but, I'll never upgrade or change my ring because it's what he proposed to me with and I love it because it means a lot to him. I will, however, be picking out my wedding band and that shit is going to be gorgeous.

I love mine! But I had seen the ring I now have at a jeweler back home a couple months after we started dating and I told him I loved it. It was still there over a year later so he bought it when we were visiting my family in PA. He proposed a couple weeks later Smiley smile

I didn't love mine in the beginning - I thought it was gorgeous, but it doesn't look like a typical engagement ring at all - it's a large ring in the shape of a Tudor rose (ruby and diamond petals with emerald leaves). BUT he had it specially designed because of my love for British history, and so I got over it real fast. There is no way I would ever ask for another one.

Went to several stores showed him the style and cut that I liked. He took pictures and went back on his own and chose the one he liked best. To be honest I didn't remember showing him the one I got but he had it in the 20 or so pictures we had taken.

I got an heirloom ring. I love it and it means a lot him. It was the ring his grandmother's ring that his dad proposed to his mom with. They ended up divorcing when he was young (I know bad luck). But we look at it as bringing together both sides. Paternal gma ring given to mom, who gave it to him to propose. The sentiment has grown on me. It's a very simple solitaire. I think I may "upgrade" or change it later at an aniversary if we decide to pass it on to our future kids.

I didn't get exactly what I wanted but neither did he. He wanted a round solitaire and I wanted an emerald cut center with side baguettes. In the end he got a compromise of what we both wanted. I look at my ring as a symbol of what marriage is -> a happy compromise. :-)

I love mine, but I'm struggling with it a bit. It is white gold and I had no idea that the rhodium plating on white gold can rub off. My mom has a white gold wedding ring and has never had any issues with it, but my skin reacts with mine and the plating comes off so the ring turns yellow and looks awful. It costs about $35 to have it redipped, I've had to have it done it at least once a year since I've had it so far, and I'm a little stuck as to what to do going forward. I love my ring but this really bothers me.

I had a bunch of likes and dislikes about erings, FH took them to a jeweler and had my ring custom made, which took me by surprise. I might be one of the lucky ones, I fell in love with it pretty quickly. The only thing I might have changed would have been a slightly larger center stone as I have really big hands, so for a while I thought the stone would look dwarfed on me. That part has since grown on me, and even more since I found out that the stone is actually FMIL's, I love heirloom jewelry.

The groom to be should take a friend of the bride out to lunch and then ring shopping. The friend should have a good idea of what the bride likes. I can't imagine wearing a ring that you didn't like. I have a plain gold band.
