Anyone nervous about their venue going out of business?

Michelle, on June 12, 2020 at 4:01 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 15
Just curious...One of the venues I looked at last year is going out of business after 20 years due to Covid. It makes some terrified it it happened to my venue and to lose out thousands of dollars. There’s probably nothing to do except try not to worry since it hasn’t happened (crossing fingers). Crazy to think the top 5 venues I was looking at last year, two have already gone out of business.

Not to be too much of creeper, but I am in Columbus, too...and I just knew you were referring to dock580 when you said 20 years. Definitely having all the same thoughts right now...they were our second choice for our venue. Hits a little too close to home!

I’m not nervous per say because I haven’t heard about my venue going out of business. But I’m very aware that it can happen and praying that it doesn’t!

It was sad because one of the brides commenting on their post announcing closure found out through Facebook.

I would be extra upset as a client. Not only is your venue closing and you have to look for a new perfect place but, you learned it from social media. That is beyond unprofessional. Everyone understands that this time is hard on everyone but to announce it via social media before you contact all your current clients is tactless.

I wish there was a way to foresee it happening but sadly there isn’t. I’m going to try to stop worrying so much for the future and live in the moment cuz at this time everything is fine.

That's horrible. Ours hasn't said anything. I do hate the fact that I had emailed them back in march and then again last month and haven't gotten a reply. I thought they were closed down and just didn't say anything.

Couple weeks ago, I actually decided to call them and they answered immediately and it was my point of contact who I have never gotten an email response from in the last few months. As of right now, we're not even sure if we're going to stick with this venue.

I am on the brides impacted by Dock580 closing. I’m incredibly sad and overwhelmed. But also feeling hopeful about what’s next. Our wedding was planned for 10/30/20 😢

I’m so sorry Smiley sad what are your plans next? I have been following a post in Facebook where many vendors reached out to help but understandable if you’re hesitant to book again.

We are looking at other venues. And considering putting off the reception. Still trying to figure it out honestly.

I’m now thinking about wedding insurance. I’ve done a search and it’s about $150 a month. Has anyone looked into insurance?

Nevermind, it seems they will not cover businesses going out of business related to Covid

I wasn’t even thinking about it before, but our venue reached out to us a month or so ago stating that they are in a good place financially and will be able to weather this, so that was reassuring that they went out of their way to state as much and communicate with us.

Wow, I never even thought of this possibility! I was afraid the jeweler would go out of business before I got my ring, but fortunately that didn't happen. My venue is an art gallery in a larger entertainment center, so hopefully we will be okay.

I'm so sorry for the brides dealing with this.

Oh yes, that would seem less likely for closing.
