Anyone know how many guests actually show up?

I mean, the percentage statistically. And if it's way low...are you all inviting more people than what you catered for?

You will have approximately 10-20% that RSVP yes that won't show. I got married last summer, had 70 RSVPs and 12 no shows (what an expensive waste!). In my other life, I often did dinner programs that involved RSVPs, and it consistently ran about the same...10-20% of the "yes's" didn't show. Hope this helps.

The industry figure is that 80% will RSVP, and another 10% will drop off the day of. These are solid figures to go by.

This thread actually makes me feel a little better since FMIL took it upon herself to make the grooms side of the guest list HUGE.

I think it depends alot on the people invited! fh told me that its good we have a cash bar because if the words 'open bar' were spoken anywhere, his entire family and everyone they know would show. im sorry, but if all these people i never met and never invited showed up, theyre gettin their butts kicked out! there are only 2 people invited that ive never met, and thats because they live in like cali. i think itll be easy to see who belongs there and who doesnt!

This usually varies by region, family size, and proximity of the guests. Typically 65 to 75 percent show. If you have a large family and most of your guests are near by the amount will be higher than this.

We're having a DW so our numbers are lower, but we invited 69 and right now 35 have RSVP'd yes (9 people have not RSVP'd; I need to call them tomorrow). So we're getting only about a 50% attendance rate, but our DW was also pretty short notice (first anyone knew about it was the invite they got around March 1 for May 21st wedding). On the plus side, I don't think we'll have many "no shows" who said they were coming, but I guess we'll see about that...
