Anyone having multiple weddings?

Bridget, on April 10, 2022 at 5:10 AM Posted in Planning 0 13

I am having one traditional/cultural wedding and one American. Two different wedding budgets and two different locations. Yikes!

Good luck on your wedding planning adventures. I am not having multiple weddings, but I like the idea of it if it makes sense to you and your partner. Best wishes!

I'm not. But I can see how that would be stressful! Double the planning but double the fun!! How far apart is each wedding date?

We were going to do a double wedding one American and one Nigerian but we opted to combine traditions into one day. We were however thinking of planning to do a private ceremony between just us during our honeymoon in the Dominican Republic as that’s where we truly fell in love. That was our original plan that got hijacked by my parents and now we are having this incredible huge event that is making me very nervous!! 😂

Can you combine a mixture of both cultures into one celebration? Planning one wedding is challenging enough.

How exciting! Me and the fiance are doing two different weddings in two different continents. One will be in Nigeria for my IGBO traditions. I would love to combine the two in America but I do not have family in America so it's hard to do tradition without those that know it.

Exactly. It is hard to embed those traditions with a not knowing audience. However thankfully there will be some family there to give it context.

The plan was to do one in Nigeria and one in the USA. Unfortunately, we were not able to go to Nigeria due to the uncertainty of the area and unforeseen circumstances. We had the American wedding here. We are planning on still doing one in Nigeria and a mini reception For his family in Nevada as all did not come to Texas. His family lives in Nevada and hubby and I in Texas. I suggest one year do Nigeria and the next year USA. My mom suggested Nigeria first and last USA. A year apart weddings helps financially. Hope this helps.

Yea, I would probably just do the American one this year and then go back to Nigeria next year and hopefully have another. Fingers crossed
