So, we set our budget to $1O grand ( we do NOT want to spend anymore than this). Our wedding isn't til next year. The thing is, I alone have those 10 grand. From now til next year DF and I will have almost 20 grand saved. I've been thinking about it lately, and I'm having second thoughts on if I want to spend 10 gs on a wedding!! I could use some for a nice big trip, or use all of the money we can save for a house!! We also have 2 children and obviously alot of that money can go to them. I am seriously doubting if I want to spend that much on something that will last one day. I know I know it's something very special, I know! DF and I have been together 9 1/2 yrs and it's something I've wanted all my life!! But now that the time has come and more so, I have the money, it's hard to let go of it lol. We currently rent a house and definitely want to buy one so that's where I should be spending this money. What do you think??

Sometimes I feel that way. We are spending $40k. Sometime I think am I being stupid spending money like this. Maybe I should spend only $10k and have something less nice or smaller, but in the end I know myself and if it isn't what I want I will regret spending the $10k. I think if it turns out as I imagined I won't regret spending the money in the long run.

I'm constantly having second thoughts on all the costs, but I do have all the vendors I wanted. I just wonder if I should have gone for cheaper packages. Oh well I only plan to get married once so I might as well make it perfect all around!

It is a lot of money but when it stresses me out, I remind myself that I'm doing things on a good budget and that it is an important day that I will remember for the rest of my life

I love Amy S. Take on it.

Honestly, my mom keeps saying why are you doig this or that or spending this, but really, this might be one day, but it is one day I will remember for my entire life. It worth it for me to have it be perfect.

I'm new to the site and have been thinking the same thing. I really don't want a big wedding and would rather find a park or somewhere simple to do vows. We really haven't saved much with Christmas and all i went a little crazy. I think I'm doing more for my family and his I think because they are more excited than i am lol. Glad to see I'm not the only one thinking this way.
