So I was curious on this one. Just so everyone knows, I do have Japanese in my blood lol. Anyway, one of my BM has folded 1000 cranes before she got married....She took those cranes and had them framed into a picture (beautiful I may add). Just a little note just in case people aren't aware of this tradition....It is said that Cranes are 1 of 3 holy creatures that can live for 1000 years. When you fold 1000 cranes, each crane that you fold represents 1 year of the cranes life. So by completing this task before your wedding day would be richly rewarded with a good and happy, prosperous marriage paying homage to the majestic crane, which mates for life and is said (again) to live 1000 years.

***People not only do this for marriages, but for the sickly, Anniversaries, etc.***

I read a story when I was younger about a young girl getting sick so someone (I don't remember the details), made her 1000 cranes. It's a beautiful tradition. Maybe you and your FI could do them together?

The meaning behind it is very sweet.

I have never heard of this. It's beautiful though.

I read a book when I was younger about a sick girl and the 1000 cranes. I have loved them since and hung them all over my ceiling as a young girl. I think this is a beautiful idea.
