Anyone else's fiancé' not on board with the planning process?

Is anyone else having a hard time getting their fiancé excited about the wedding process? He says he wants to be involved, be given quotes, estimates, and ideas, and I've done ALL of that for several different venues already. I think he wants a magic exact number of what everything will cost, but all I can give him is a price range. Obviously I cant get catering, floral, photography, etc. quotes without having a locked date and place. I have gotten lots of estimates and have presented these to him. For me, I am READY to plan and both him and I would be paying for our wedding, which our budget isn't HUGE but honestly I feel is doable for us in our circumstances. He thinks that with the AFFORDABLE pricing I've given him, with still a beautiful wedding, we'd be wasting money, but until he's completely on board with the process, I feel as though I'm wasting my time researching if were never going to lock a date. He knows that I don't ask for a lot and am not one of those women who needs to be showered with things, but the one things he has known for YEARS is that I've always wanted to plan a wedding someday. Its not like this is news to him. I feel like covid has put a huge damper on the world, and I'm here grateful for the opportunity to start to plan an event and something positive to look forward to, and I cant seem to get my fiancé excited about it. Anyone else having similar issues? Please tell me I'm not alone here.

Definitely agree! and trust me, i have done ALL the research, and continue to come up with same numbers. our guest list is probably about 75-100 which he isn't budging on because his family is a bit larger than mine. for us I know the venue, photography, catering and open bar will eat up most of the cost. im already prepared to save on a dress, florals, decor, and DJ! to have the quality of wedding we both like, I know a minimum of $15K for everything will be the most reasonable for us, and I keep doing more research, and anything lower priced in our area (orlando, fl) will not allow for the type of wedding we want!

I am in the exact same situation! I don't have alot of girlfriends and my best friend got engaged right after me so I mean she is some help but planning her own wedding. I looked to him to help me plan since I don't have any other girls to bounce ideas off of but he wants it to look cool and fun but doesn't really care about colors or the smaller details. Luckily I am making him go to an open house at hopefully our reception venue to try food, since we decided in March we liked it because of their all inclusive package but hopefully this will help him agree we need to put money down towards a date.

See eloping would not be an option for me, as I would be the one giving up my dreams of having a wedding. No help from family, nor is it expected on our end and were not the type to ask for anything from them. Im willing to compromise but I know with the amount of people invited, and type of wedding we would have (DJ, open bar, good food) and I already know the areas I can save, dress, florals, glam, decor, invites, etc.. because the venues we like are already visually appealing. I keep coming up with a 10-15K estimate for everything, which any lower, in our area, Orlando, fl, and we would have to give up things we really want for our day! I know every couples different, and for me, 10-15 is more on the affordable side in my eyes for a wedding.

Im hoping he comes around as well! i think hes starting to understand a bit where im coming from, and truly know that all I want is to have a day to celebrate us, with those we love, and to have special memories to look back on and tell stories about!

Thats what im assuming is going to happen here, i just want him to be a little bit excited! Just as long as he shows up and has some good vows, ill be happy in the long run! But knowing our taste, I just need him to understand that it comes at a bit of a price, which trust me, Ive done SO much research!

Hes definitely open to any creative ideas I have and knows that I have the eye for it! I think hes just nervous to spend $$$ on these things, which for the style and quality of food, drink, and party vibe we will wnat, it will come at a bit of a cost! i think i just have to prove that four our style, the consistent quotes ive given him are not going to budge!

I think he is going to come around! i keep presenting different quotes to him all around the same for our style and what we would want out of a wedding! for him i have to really present numbers vs. creativity which for me is difficult, since im the creative and visionary, and get super excited with ideas, yet do understand how to stay in the budget as well. I think my excitement may be overwhelming to him lol

I TOTALLY agree with you, and have presented areas we can save! id be willing to go off season also, but living in FL is risky with the everchanging bi-polar weather! (ideally my wedding will be all indoors anyway!) I keep saying how lowering our invites from 130 to 100 will drastically help, but his family is a bit larger than mine, so i dont know that he'll budge there! i already know im going to have to save on a dress, glam, florals, decor, invites etc... but also know that priority for him will be food/bev, for me a visually appealing venue so we need less decor, and also a great photographer, and for both of us a great DJ!

Im totally okay if he doesnt want to plan the details! But do need his help paying , so feel as though i need to ask his opinion on those things! I know once food/bev conversations come up, he'll probably be more excited! but in agreeance with you, I can plan all the little details, just as long as he shows up, has some good vows, and has a good time!

EXACTLY! I'm completely willing to compromise, but also totally realistic in the quality of things we'd want for our day! I think he knows by now that were not eloping or going to the court house, but now I need him to understand that quality things for weddings aren't cheap, and if we make it cheap, we wont have a good time! I think he's slowly coming around to my ideas and thought process, because trust me, over quarantine, this was all i researched, and now that i'm back to work, all my free time is spent on research! Have a few venue tours coming up as well! i know once we have the venue, everything else will go smoothly!

You can bounce ideas off of me! I have my bridesmaids, but not one seems overly enthused either! (i think covid put a damper on everyone since we all got quarantined, shortly after i got engaged in march!)I definitely don't want to give up my dream wedding, but would like for people to be excited about it! I think as we get closer and/or book a date and venue, it will give everyone something positive to look forward too!

Well for one, its a Saturday, which is ideal for us, second the weather in Florida is nicest in oct-nov and march-April (non hurricane season and not too close to the holiday season lol) and not the most important reason, but I would like my bridesmaids to wear black, and October seems appropriate for that! (definitely not a Halloween wedding but more of a formal feel with black, white and silver!) also my favorite number is 10, and the 22/22 sounds nice to me! lol

Thanks so much! im going on a venue tour tomorrow, and the colors in the place are motly blacks and greys, and they provide some cool uplighting! so if i add my white in with the tables and flowers, i think with black bridesmaids dresses, the whites in the flowers will pop in their dresses and and my dress will pop standing next to them!
