Anyone else wearing flip flops?

JessBaran, on March 16, 2016 at 2:35 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 64

I have never been comfortable in heels for more than an hour or so. I don't understand how girls can wear heels all day everyday, totally look up to those ladies! So for my wedding (this Saturday, eek!) I plan on wearing some white flip flops. I know I'll be on my feet for most of the day and the last thing I want to worry about is hurting feet. I feel like no one is even going to see my feet since the dress goes to the floor. My FH also is only 2 inches taller than me so if I wear heels I'll be taller. My mother and my FMIL are giving me a hard time though! They think I need to wear some fancy heels or at least some fancy flats. What are your opinions? I'm hoping to get some ladies on my side! Even though I mostly see the gorgeous heels posted on here, haven't seen any flip flops yet!

I have platform flip flops to change into in the reception... cause I have to be taller for the dress alterations (FH is 1 foot taller than me and my shoes are platform heels)

I am not a heel wearer either, I plan to put on flip flops after all of the pictures have been taken! Your right, no one will notice them unless you show them!

It's your wedding so wear what you want. I also don't like heels and I'm slightly taller than FH so I don't want to tower over him. For the wedding I'm wearing converse instead of heels. I originally got some side eye from FFIL and FSIL but oh well.

I'm wearing Converse. You should wear whatever makes you comfortable.

I attached a picture of the ones I plan on wearing, unless the moms have their way! @Necie, love the converse idea!

I love to wear heels but I am totally with you on this one and will probably just wear some nicer alternatives to flip flops. Maybe get some nice looking ones and they wont have too much of a problem with them.

Same as Future Mrs R Perez! My Mom offered to make "bridesmaid" flip flops for all of the girls and a pair of them for me, which means she's going to bling them out and add pretty ribbon and such. Mine are a pair of platform ones that match the height of my heels so I'm not tripping on my dress.

I def did not have to wear heels as I'm 5'10" and FH is only 6', but I LOVE my shoes and now I don't need a hem Smiley smile so platform flip flops for the reception it is.

I plan to wear fancy flip-flops. I also plan to not tell my mom, mommom, or FMIL because I'm sure they'll all give me a hard time over this. I hate heels and would almost definitely fall in them. As for flats, they sometimes hurt my heels and they seem to "breathe" less than other shoes and just make my feet stink. I'll be happiest in flip-flops Smiley smile

@Lauren, my big mistake was telling the moms! I should've just showed up with them. Yay for flip flops!

No flip flops, but slippers. Like house shoe slippers. I look like Bambi trying to walk for the first time when I wear heels. Add the size & weight of a wedding gown & the awkwardness is ridiculous. For my twin sister's wedding I wore super comfy fuzzy slippers under my BM dress. Nobody knew until after and joked that I would probably wear slippers to my own wedding. And I am. Lol

I plan on wearing flip-flops or a comfortable sandal. There is no way I'd make it through the day in heels.

We are having our ceremony outside on grass & not that I would ever wear heels anyway, I am planning on wearing "Wedding Chacos". Chacos are the ultimate sandal for outdoorsy people & you can get them custom in white.

I think it's fine. It's important to be comfortable. Plus, like you said, no one will them anyway, since your dress is floor length. If you wanted fancier shoes, that would have been fine too, but I don't know why your mother and FMIL think it's such a big deal, since no one would see your shoes.

Maybe they think you're literally going to be flipping and flopping down the aisle--the thin ones definitely do have that slap sound. I've never had thicker platforms that made the sound though.

I'm wearing champagne colored foldable flats. They match my dress and are super comfortable.

I'm wearing rainbows. They have some nice ones with swardowski crystals on them to be fancy. I might get those ones. I'm wearing flip flops for comfort and we are going for a casual vibe for our wedding. I saw do what makes you comfortable!

I, personally, am wearing ballet flats. However, I come from the land of flip flops (Florida) and it is generally acceptable to wear flip flops for any occasion here. I am actually passing out flip flops for my reception. So I say go for it if you want to!
