Anyone else having an extremely short engagement?

Jessica, on August 12, 2016 at 1:00 AM Posted in Planning 0 37

So we have been asked 1000+ times why such a short engagement? Well, because we want to and it's OUR wedding! Not pregnant. Not having more kids. 3 boys between us is enough. Anyway, I am just wondering if anyone else out there is having a short engagement and not getting eloped? Any advice? We have 43 days left and while I am beyond excited, I'm having panic attacks when I see my to do list.

I think most of us are having a longer engagement to save money for the wedding we want.

Hey date twin! We got officially engaged on April 16th this year. Yes, a few people including FIL were shock that we are getting married so soon. We have our own reasons. Good luck with planning.

We had a 6 month engagement. We did it for our own reasons and faced many of the same speculations. Already 3 people asked if I was pregnant.

Its funny how everyone assumes that's the reason. Heaven forbid it actually be because I love my fiancé and I just want to be married to my best friend already! No they MUST have an alterior motive!

Actually FH wanted to get married on Memorial Day weekend, our 5 years anniversary. Little did he knows that wedding takes some times to plan!

That's sweet! Yea, if you're not interested in eloping, it takes a little while longer. I was tempted a few times, but realized this is my 1 and only wedding, I want my 88 year old grandparents there!

I got engaged in May and my wedding is in December. I wish I was having a longer engagement because I'd have more money saved for other things I want but I'm actually happy. There's nothing wrong in my eyes with a short engagement as long as it's what you guys want. It's your wedding.... No one else's

We got engaged April 24th and would have picked October but I'm in school so after the semester ended made more sense. If a short engagement makes sense to you than go for it. If you two are happy that's all that sound matter.

I met my Fh three years ago the same night I caught my then husband in bed with another women , we remained friends that whole time. Just friends no benefits. We started dating April of 2015 and was engaged August 7, 2015 ,my original wedding date was March 12 but I had surgery so pushed it back until October so I think it's pretty short but I am marrying my friend my best friend ..

Nine month long engagement here, and we did get some "wow, you're not wasting any time!" reactions from our friends. Seems like people are just really used to engagements lasting a year or more these days, which is fine too! We just want to be married already, and were able to start planning immediately.

We got engaged 6/4/16 and will be married 10/29/16. Only one person actually asked if I was pregnant which was his sister. Everyone else kept it to themselves even though they probably thought it. FH wanted to head to the courthouse after he asked lol.

I see several date twins, yay! FH proposed Feb 1 and we knew all along we'd have a short engagement. I tried talking him into a courthouse ceremony but he wanted the whole experience for us and to honor my parents (mom deceased 14 yrs and dad deceased 5 years). Some people inevitably asked why so soon, our response, why not? FH jokes that he didn't seal the deal 20 years ago and he lost me so he's not letting me get away for another 20 years.

We started planning our wedding before we got engaged this March. We didn't get engaged till May 03. Our wedding day is October 15. People have been asking that stupid question and it always annoys me cause they wouldn't ask if I got pregnant.

We wI'll be enaged a yeah when we marry but we only announced the wedding date about 2 months and everyone assumed I was pregnant. I even had someone come up to me in the street the other week and say that I "only look a few months gone" erm thanks? in actual fact we chose this year because it's 10 years since we met.

We got engaged at not quite 8 months together (4 days short), and will be married just a few days after 1.5 years together. We're both in our 40s and have no questions or doubts about what each of us want in a partner. The only reason we're waiting until April is because the date means something to FH. Otherwise, why wait? Everyone's timing is different and if you both are secure in each other, who cares what anyone else thinks. I waited 45 years to find my love and I don't want to wait any more to be his wife
