Anyone else having an extremely short engagement?

So we have been asked 1000+ times why such a short engagement? Well, because we want to and it's OUR wedding! Not pregnant. Not having more kids. 3 boys between us is enough. Anyway, I am just wondering if anyone else out there is having a short engagement and not getting eloped? Any advice? We have...

Anyway, I am just wondering if anyone else out there is having a short engagement and not getting eloped? Any advice? We have 43 days left and while I am beyond excited, I'm having panic attacks when I see my to do list.

Congratulations on your upcoming marriage! FW and I will not be having a short engagement, which is strange for some to comprehend since we are having a small, private, out of town ceremony. It is the perfect recipe for a short engagement and yet we will have a year and a half engagement.

I was engaged in February and we're marrying in September, and I've gotten complaints. I sorta wish I waited to save more money, but the benefits of doing it now outweigh that. I lost my insurance coverage, my fiancé wants to go back to school, and important people will be moving away. And if nothing else, I WANT to do it now! It's your choice, like everyone here says. Congratulations!

Our engagement will be 10 months, and we've also gotten the "you're not wasting any time!" and behind-the-back "is she pregnant" (which I'm not..).

We got engaged in June, getting married in December. Already been together for 4 years and lived together for 3. Family will be in town for the holidays, FH is in school and 2017 is already a busy year for us so it just made sense. If you're organized it can all come together

My college friend had a 4 month engagement, which was pretty surprising to us. We really weren't sure why, but each to his own and it was a beautiful wedding none the less!

Thanks everyone for input. I'm not at all ashamed of our 5 month engagement. We've had the whole you're moving way too fast from people since we met. (Met online, moved in together 3 months later, engaged after 11 months dating and a 5 month engagement) we don't care what anyone says! We are parents from previous relationships, in our 30s and know what we want and don't want. I wanted to get married the day he asked, but I've always wanted our families there and my mom to make me a beautiful wedding dress! The benefits of a short engagement outweigh the stress for us. Tax reasons, he's about to retire from the military and wants me to have the benefits of acrime military spouse as long as I can (frankly I don't care about this, it's nice and all, but far from why I am marrying him). I agree with a lot of you ladies, I just want to be my best friend's wife and him to be my husband! It seems corny when you're single and someone says oh when you know you know, but then you meet the man or woman of your dreams and you realize wow it's true! Haha. Oh man, people can be so crude when it comes to saying you look pregnant or they just assume! Get a life and stay outta mine is how I feel!

How funny because people tell me our engagement is too long! (14 months) and I'm like what? How is it too long? Haha! I guess everyone just has different ideas on how long engagements are.

FH proposed in 11/25/15 and we/re getting married 9/30/15 so 10 months. My family actually thought it would've been sooner. We initially planned for november 16 but a lot of people had prior plans. When we said November FMIL was like WHY ARE YOU WAITING SO LONG?!?! We didn't feel like a year was a long time but it seems our families feel like long engagements arent the norm. When we were discussing the date one of FH's uncles literally said "September 2016? Oh because if you're going to wait over a year you might as well wait to get engaged " so idk

We did 3.5 months. Same as you, still working through my to do list. My best advice would be to order everything online you are going to want as early as possible so you don't have to pay rush shipping.

We are 20 days away, with a lot to do.... But it's exactly what we wanted and will turn out beautifully!!!

Whatever works for you, in my opinion. We chose a longer engagement so we could save and have a fancy-pants wedding lol. A short engagement wouldn't have worked for us even if we had the money then because of my work schedule at the time.

I face the opposite. I always get asked why such a long engagement (19 months) but it seems pretty normal to me. I just wanted to save money.

We are having a 9-10 month engagement (which I don't think is terribly short, just on the shorter end of things) and I have had many reactions of "wow, so soon?" And even more asks about the state of my uterus.

I think your timeline is important to YOU. We are going for a specific important date to us and are able to save plenty of money between now and then... Some people just seem to think that there's a rule book for dating, engagements, weddings, life....

I got asked if i was pregnant when I told people we were engaged.. before we even had a wedding picked, lol. We'd been together 10 years so everyone assumed we must be pregnant if we were getting engaged, ha.

We got engaged 4/9/15 and married 9/13/15. We already had the money for the wedding and we were trying to have it soon enough that my grandmother who wasn't in the best health would be able to attend.
