Anyone else feel extremely uncomfortable during the garter removal?

I always thought this was way too weird to do in front of everyone, especially parents. Who's skipping? I know I am lol

I don’t think it’s ever even entered our minds, honestly. Maybe a bouquet toss, but a definite no on the garter removal.

Skipping it. Would of skipped the bouquet tossed too, but my sister wants me to do it for her.

I’m so skipping. The idea of doing it in front of 400 people makes me cringe.

My family and friends, as well as FHs friends are not the type to be easily embarrassed or grossed out. Thank god because FH is all for garter toss. My father even handed down my mothers garter from their wedding and they’ve been divorced for 4 years now lol

This seems to be the unpopular opinion on this topic, but we will be doing the garter toss and bouquet toss!! I'm actually excited for this part of the reception. I figure by that point in the reception we'll be too drunk to care what anyone else thinks. Lol. Kidding, but not really Smiley xd

The tradition comes from taking the bride’s virginity. The groom would come out of the bedroom after the wedding with the bride’s underwear to prove he got lucky. I do not need my FH ceremoniously deflowering me in front of our families. Plus we have been living together for 4 years already...

I always thought the garter toss was stupid. It cheapens the wedding and has no class.
I am throwing my bouquet but because we know more single men, I'm throwing it to them. Lol!!

The thought of it makes me uncomfortable, so I'm skipping it. We're also skipping the bouquet toss.

I am definitely skipping it! I am having a small intimate wedding. The majority of our guests are family and I just don't feel comfortable, especially with the garter removal, because it's sort of too sexualized for me.

We are doing an unconventional bouquet toss. Anyone male, female, single or taken can participate. The person who catches it gets an Etsy gift card. Before all our friends were like no bouquet toss and now they are all betting on who will win

We are skipping it. We will be in a park, and there will be kids, so I think it would be totally inappropriate. I bought a pretty pre-made bouquet to toss, but I'm having second thoughts about that as well.

We're doing both, the garter toss doesn't make me uncomfortable. What made me uncomfortable was the last wedding I went to they did the garter toss and then the groomsmen gave the bridesmaids a lap dance and it turned into this weird strip tease thing, I don't know where the heck that came from it was weird and I've never seen that at a wedding before.

I'm actually really excited to do the bouquet toss but really don't want to do the garter thing. Would it be bad to do one and not the other?
