Anyone else alone in wedding excitement?

on January 28, 2022 at 8:05 PM Posted in Planning 0 7

I'm getting married 113 days! My fiance is slammed with school, because he's in the post-graduate program and student teaching, then spending each weekend with immense amount of lesson planning. My mom just had major surgery, so I've been helping her and things. But both of our families have never had a wedding (other than parents), and both of our families do have some toxicity in certain aspects. It just sucks knowing that I'm alone in the excitement! My brothers get awkward when it's mentioned, obviously my mom needs time to recover, and other family members of mine are toxic. On my fiance's side, his siblings are also busy with school, and his parents don't make many comments, plus my relationship with them is a little iffy (I think especially too since their oldest daughter isn't included in the bridal party). I overshared but it's just isolating sometimes. I know my fiance is so excited to get married but he barely has time to watch a movie these days, so I don't expect him to have full blow conversations about the wedding and planning and things.

Is there anyone I can freak out with?! Everyone at my school is either really young and don't care, or they've already been married and don't wanna listen to me lol. I just wanna show people my dress and talk basics and just be excited 😅

That's why this website is so great. You know the people will be excited about the same things. 😊 Not everyone can be everything for you, so wedding forums are perfect for chatting about your big day! Then if a friend or family member brings it up you can still talk a little without dumping if you otherwise had nowhere else to let it out. 👍

Sounds like we’re getting married around the same time my wedding was 119 days away and I am really sorry to get excited about the whole thing. I honestly can’t wait for the celebration in the ceremony and all of it!

Congratulations! I completely understand and can relate to this! My fiancé and I are in grad school programs AND long distance. My sister (MOH) just had a baby and my parents and siblings are very much focused on my neice (as they should be) but all of this has led me to the bulk of my wedding planning alone! My fiancé is great at zooming to chat about arrangements but the time difference makes it tough. Hang in there!

Thanks, and congrats to you too!
As much as it sucks it is nice to know I’m definitely not alone in the way I feel 😭💔. Thanks for sharing your perspective. Thankfully my fiancé and I aren’t split by a time zone though. And a baby is a big centre of attention! :o

Congrats! We’re like a week difference away from behind wedding date twins Smiley tongue I’m super excited about all of it as well, especially cause this is like the first real event I get to go to, and it’s my own!

Totally Twins!!! I have a confluence of nervous and excitement. I can’t believe it’s almost here. We are doing a big celebration because like you said it’s our first big event since Covid. We want to bring the family together for the first time and celebrate in a grand way. So it’s kind of like a family reunion dance party of sorts😉

I also am a May 2022 bride! My FH isn't a planner, so when I would ask him about something, he would also say, "whatever you want". I finally told him that Im asking him because I want to know what HE wants, and to please stop saying that lol. He's done better since. But yes I agree this website is here for you, and we would love to see anything you have chosen so far!!
