Anyone do a lunch time wedding?

Liz827, on March 17, 2016 at 8:56 AM Posted in Planning 0 10

We are just because the food minimums are were where we wanted to be price wise as well as bar options. Few questions:

-What time did your ceremony start? We were thinking 11-4 with some sort of after party later on

-Did you have a full bar or just beer and wine?

-Did you serve a lighter meal because of it being lunch, or was your venue like mine and the lunch and dinner options are the same.

I am doing a lunch time wedding. My ceremony is from 1130-12, cocktail hour 12-1, and the reception from 1-5. We are having a DJ and all normal vendors, open premium bar, and serving braised short ribs, salmon, and etc (so dinner food). With our families and friends they will party hard no matter the time. ETA: We are going to do an after party later in the evening. So it gives us time to go back to the hotel and refresh.

Awesome because the menu options we have for lunch is either the same options as the dinner menu, or sandwiches. I'd really rather not have sandwiches but it also isn't a dinner reception. I hate beer and want liquor, its 5 O' clock somewhere right?! Just wanted to see if others were treating it the same as a dinner reception or if they cut back on heavy foods and whatnot. Thanks!

We are doing a lunch wedding as well. Ceremony starts at 12:30, reception ends at 6pm. It's at a restaurant/brewery and we are having a full open bar. Our food is the same as what the brewery offers for an evening wedding, but we are saving tons by doing a lunch wedding. We are having 9 apps. For lunch we are having a carving station, pasta bar, chicken dish, salmon, mixed veggies, roasted potatoes, sliders and fries. We also get a dessert bar with 4 desserts with our package. We are having a DJ and all other vendors you would have at an evening wedding. We are also doing an after party at the hotel afterwards.

Sarah I love why you are doing lunchtime! I know she wont remember it but you will. When my mom and step dad got married my brother was 5 months old and they had everything for dinnertime. Our neighbor watched him and my mom has said she wished she had at least pictures with him in a little baby tuxedo.

RJmargo your menu sounds delish! We havn't fine tuned our menu down or anything like that, but of course all the other vendors like the DJ and what not will be there.

@Mikey & Liz, thanks! We had our tasting last month, so we fine tuned the menu then. I can't remember all the apps off the top of my head, but the food is one of the things I'm most looking forward to.

You have plenty of time to figure out your menu and I'm sure whatever you guys decide on will be delicious.

@Kristina - we're doing the same thing! Because we're having less than 120 people, we couldn't book a Sat. Night. I think this works out better because most of our guests won't want to be out until midnight and for those that do, we're having an after party. I'll have to get up wicked early but, I'll get to enjoy more of the day!

We did Smiley smile Our ceremony started at 11:30, we had a cocktail hour and reception...everything ended at 4. And like you mentioned, we did have an after party as well...was SO fun, I recommend it. As for your other ?'s, we had a full open bar and food was the same as it would have been if we'd had it in the evening. Our venue had in-house catering and the menu of choices was so extensive. At one point, we asked about maybe having a brunch reception (cuz we loooooove brunch!) but when they showed us their brunch menu we were so disappointed. Tiny menu, nothing sounded good and honestly it was really just breakfast...I didn't see any brunch-ier things. A daytime event was the only way we could've afforded our venue...an evening wedding on the SAME DAY would have literally been at least another $20k. Insane.
