Just plan a little at a time, don't overwhelm yourself. Pretty much all I did when I was in school was find a dress and book venue. Now that it's summer, I've been able to just focus on work and the wedding! I've done so much! You have plenty of time to spread the planning out.

Yes! I'm currently in school full time getting a masters in business and FH is a full time law student. We will both be graduated by our wedding and FH is already commissioned in the Navy so he has his job lined up. It's definitely been a challenge working, going to school, and wedding planning but having a long engagement has definitely helped!

Wedding planning is not a full time job. It's not even a part time job. I go to school full time, work full time, and have 2 part time jobs as well as freelancing. I have more than enough time to plan my wedding. Just don't get obsessed.

Definitely take advantage of the breaks between semesters. I got most of my big stuff out of the way between spring and summer semester. I'm now just doing small stuff as I get some free time.

I got engaged last April and was a full time student taking 15 credits while working my full time job. It's hard but get you a good support system who can sometimes handle the small things without you being there in person. My mom FaceTimed me so much during this process lol

Props to you all doing both. I got engaged in January 2016, right before the start of my last semester of grad school and writing my dissertation which consumed my whole life. I told her, "yo girl I'm so excited but I'm not planning an inch of this until I've got that PhD in hand."

Lindsey! I absolutely feel your pain. I am currently working as nurse (part-time) and in school finishing a dual Masters. You have to step back and be realistic. There are people who obsess over every detail and make it seem as if you have to dedicate your entire life to planning. This ain't you- you don't have time for that! Make a priorities list and work on that first- book your large vendors. Don't feel like you have to take 10 years on every decision- be informed but not engulfed. I always tell my FH- if fail out of school, I will be a VERY unhappy bride (if I'm a bride at all). Your career is an investment in your future life, wedding planning is an investment in one day.

I am finishing my PhD (thesis defense in 2 weeks), working full time, and wedding planning. I stay organized and steal time between tasks, which otherwise would be spent on facebook or online shopping. Stay as relaxed as possible. On vacation this week and will hit the ground running upon my return.

Lol, I'm already an MD, so it will be Dr. Dr. In comparison to your dissertation, it is a small task, but, I'm ready to be DONE!

I also completely agree about the dissertation taking over my entire life. My thesis committee agreed to let me schedule the defense but I had 11 days to do rewrites to submit it to them by the deadline. Just No.

My advice would be to get a planner and set some time aside each week for specific planning

I'm currently just working full time right now, so it's a perfect time for me to get some planning in before I start going back to school in the fall. I suggest, any time you have a free moment, start making a to do list for the week/month, and keep yourself as organized as possible. Definitely don't put all your time and stress into it, and don't be afraid to sometimes ask for help.

Do it in bits. I've been doing all my planning over break. I'll be mid semester during wedding. Rough.

I was fortunate to get most of my vendors set during Christmas break. I also work full time and take online courses. Amazon has been both a blessing and a curse.

Yup! I study psychology. It can be overwhelming, especially since I have anxiety. I am also working full time. It can be a lot, but remember that the wedding is not a "job", think of it as a hobby and make time for it, but don't let it outweigh your homework/ class time.
